LOGISTICS

1. MISSION: To furnish necessary chemical defoliant in order to

support basic plan./

2. aoSUkPTION: That upon arrival of 398,000 gallons, the entire

operation can be accomplished. - If further re-supply is required, it will be"

as directed by Chief MAAG. ;

SIGNAL

1. GENjitlAL: The 'objective of the basic plan is to conduct defoliating

operations in South Vietnam.

2. .iJGUhPTlONS:

a. Target areas will---be adequately marked by:friendly forces to per-

mit easy identification by air crews, Depending on the type of target and' f v

environmental conditions, flags, signal panels, pyrotechnics or other methods

may be used. i >.

. b. 2nd ADVON will obtain and assign tactical voice call signs for

aircraft and will coordinate radio frequency requirements,

c. The 5th Tactical Control Group will obtain frequencies and assign

tactical call signs for point-to-point communications.

d. The 5th Tactical Control Group will establish a duplex radio-

teletype circuit with on-line cryptographic capability between an Son Nhut

and Danang, install one channel of UHF air/ground communications in the

Danang control tower and continue to operate in-place facilities

Nhut and Bien Hoa.

3. MI3SION: To provide navigational aMs, point-to-point'•< >:% -<*S,

communications facilities required to support defoliating pperatj

associated activities at Tan Son Nhut, Danang and Bien Hoa,

Limited South Vietnam-operated navigational aid are available at Tan Son Nhut,

Bien Hoa and Danang airfields for use by task force aircraft. The Tan Son

Nhut-Danang radioteletype circuit will be the primary channel for operational,

logistic and administrative message traffic. Existing facilities between Tan '

Son Nhut and Bien Hoa are adequate,

5. TASKS:

a. MAAG Vietnam will coordinate communications-electronics require-* i_,

ments with the RVN.J? and will render communications-electronics assistance

within its capabilities,

b. 2nd ADVON will:

(1) Exercise operational control over the communications-

electronics facilities provided by this plan.

(2) Insure that air crews are briefed on the communications-

electronics facilities available to them*

(3) Insure that PACAF and 13th AF CEI and Communications-

Electronics Standing Operating Procedures are followed insofar as possible.

(4) Develop supplementary communications-electronics pro-

cedures as may be deemed necessary,

6. COM-lUNICATIONS SECURITY: Conmunicat ons security instructions con-

tained in PACAF OPORD 224-61 are applicable. Violation of
