Most M.A. and M.Div. classes are offered online in either real-time or asynchronous formats for the accessibility and flexibility of learners around the world. Due to their nature, some classes may only be offered on campus or online in real-time. Please email [email protected] for specific information.

RESIDENCY REQUIREMENTSThe Association of Theological Schools requires certain residency requirements for M.Div. students, and WBS extends limited residency requirements to M.A. students.

• M.Div. students must complete 26-27 hours of coursework (nine courses) on campus. Four of these may be Zoom (real-time online) classes.

• M.A. students must complete 6 hours of course-work (two courses) on campus. One of these may be a Zoom (real-time online) class.

The remaining on-campus course(s) may be completed through:

• week-long intensives,• weekend classes, or• regular semester classes that meet on-campus.

Although not for credit, students may also reduce the number of on-campus classes they must take by attending the Fall All-Seminary Retreat over one weekend in late September/early October. Each retreat reduces the number of required on-campus courses by one (up to two).

WBS values community with and among our students as well as the sharing of our ethos within that community. While some of this may be accomplished in the online classroom, certain residency requirements are better fulfilled in person.
