NOTICE OF THE YUMA COUNTY BOARD OF SUPERVISORS

On June 1, 2020, the Yuma County Board of Supervisors adopted a Tentative Budget for Fiscal Year 2020‐

2021.    Pursuant  to  A.R.S.  §42‐17103,  et  seq.,  printed  below  are  a  summary  of  the  total  estimated

revenues and expenditures by fund type (Schedule A) and primary and secondary property tax levies for

all districts (Schedule B).

Yuma  County  hereby  notifies  all  property  taxpayers  of  Yuma  County’s  intention  to  raise  its  primary

property taxes from $31,440,775 for tax year 2019 (Fiscal Year 2019‐2020) to $32,269,306 for tax year

2020 (Fiscal Year 2020‐2021).  Truth in Taxation calculations are as follows:  Yuma County is proposing an

increase in primary property taxes of $303,749 or 0.97%.  For example, the proposed tax increase will cause Yuma

County’s  primary  property  taxes  on  a  $100,000  home  to  be  $250.82  (total  proposed  taxes  including  the  tax

increase).   Without  the proposed  tax  increase,  the  total  taxes  that would be owed on a $100,000 home would

have been $248.42.   This proposed  increase  is exclusive of  increased primary property taxes received from new

construction.  The  increase  is  also  exclusive  of  any  changes  that may  occur  from  property  tax  levies  for  voter

approved bonded indebtedness or budget and tax overrides.

Yuma County hereby notifies all property  taxpayers of  the Yuma County Library District’s  intention  to

raise its secondary property taxes over the tax year 2019 (Fiscal Year 2019‐2020) level of $ $8,340,111 to

8,677,883 for the tax year 2020 (Fiscal Year 2020‐2021).   Truth  in Taxation calculations are as  follows:

Yuma  County  Library District  is  proposing  an  increase  in  secondary  property  taxes  of  $196,258  or  2.35%.  For

example,  the  proposed  tax  increase will  cause  Yuma  County  Library  District’s  secondary  property  taxes  on  a

$100,000 to be $67.45 (total proposed taxes including the tax increase).  Without the proposed tax increase, the

total taxes that would be owed on a $100,000 home would have been $65.90.  This proposed increase is exclusive

of  increased  secondary  property  taxes  received  from  new  construction.  The  increase  is  also  exclusive  of  any

changes that may occur from property tax levies for voter approved bonded indebtedness.

Yuma County hereby notifies  all property  taxpayers of  the  Yuma County  Flood District’s  intention  to

raise its secondary property taxes over the tax year 2019 (Fiscal Year 2019‐2020) level of $ $2,469,104 to

2,603,869 for the tax year 2020 (Fiscal Year 2020‐2021).   Truth  in Taxation calculations are as  follows:

Yuma  County  Flood  District  is  proposing  an  increase  in  secondary  property  taxes  of  $93,209  or  3.78%.  For

example,  the  proposed  tax  increase  will  cause  Yuma  County  Flood  District’s  secondary  property  taxes  on  a

$100,000 to be $24.19 (total proposed taxes including the tax increase).  Without the proposed tax increase, the

total taxes that would be owed on a $100,000 home would have been $23.31.  This proposed increase is exclusive

of  increased  secondary  property  taxes  received  from  new  construction.  The  increase  is  also  exclusive  of  any

changes that may occur from property tax levies for voter approved bonded indebtedness.

Pursuant to A.R.S. §38‐431, et seq., NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Yuma County Board of Supervisors

will hold a public hearing and special meeting at 9:00 a.m., Monday, June 22, 2020, to hear oral and/or

written comments concerning the Final Adopted Budget for Fiscal Year 2020‐2021, establishment of tax

levies, and  for adoption of  same. The hearing will be held  in  the Yuma County Board of Supervisors’

Auditorium, 198 S. Main Street, Yuma, Arizona.  The Budget encompasses all taxing districts directed by

the Board of Supervisors including the Flood Control, Health, Jail, Library and Improvement Districts.  All

interested citizens are invited to attend and comment on the budget.  Following the hearing, the Board

will consider final action to adopt the Fiscal Year 2020‐2021 County budget.
