Editorial racic Surgery. During the past decade, changes have occurred not only in the medical atmosphere of surgical training but in fact in the conduct of world affairs in general. The responsibilities of those in charge of training programs have changed, and the demands and needs of the trainees also are different. The examining boards in the surgical specialities have not been immune to these changes and over the years have accepted their added re- sponsibilities. Let us hope that the frequently mentioned generation gap will never be present in the preparation and training of our future surgeons. DAVID J. Seiler of Tampa, Fla. Officers elected for the coming year included A. Robert Cordell, Winston-Salem, N.C., President; James W. Pate, Memphis, Tenn., President-elect; Frederick H. Taylor, Charlotte, N.C., Vice-president; James W. Brooks, Richmond, Va., Secretary-Treasurer. Twenty-five applicants were elected to active membership in the Association. One corresponding member and one honorary member were elected. The Presi- dent’s Award for the best scientific presentation given at the 1970 annual meeting was presented to Dr. George R. Daicoff of Gainesville, Fla. The 1972 meeting will be held at the Trinidad Hilton Hotel, Port of Spain, Trinidad, on November 24, 1972. Chairman of the Membership Committee is Dr. John L. Sawyers, Nashville General Hospital, Nashville, Tenn., and Chairman of the Program Committee is Dr. Paul C.
