NOTIONS OF THINGS
In Notions of things, Darcy Ribeiro gathered a series of texts and interesting stories about many subjects: humanity, culture, Brazil, numbers, generations, Indians and civilized, animals, fleas, the end of the world, advices, tails and hair, among others. The book is destined to the young people, however, for its intelligent, critical and sometimes ironical way of approaching the reader, establishing a dialogue between them, the author captivates any reader of any age. In his first text, "Sabedoria" [Wisdom], it's possible to feel how pleasant it will be to read again and again the author digressions: I look around and there are many inquisitive children and I don't see anybody willing to explain things to them. It's a shame… I just ask they don't call me "tio". I'm nobody's uncle. I'm a writer. I'm going to tell you, step by step, all that I know. I'm not saying I know everything, nor that what I know is always right. Who am I? Notions of things is the fifth book by Darcy Ribeiro published by Global Publisher, that has exclusivity upon all the works of this Brazilian anthropologist, teacher and writer. In 2014, Global edited Maíra, O Mulo, Utopia selvagem and Migo. The ambitious project of reprinting and unpublished goes on through the next years and includes the publication of all books of ethnology, anthropology, novel, essays and education.
