History Speaks @ the Baranov Museum T he Kodiak Historical Society is proud to present: Notorious Bars of Kodiak Walking Tour Doug Vandegraft author of A Guide to the Notorious Bars of Alaska The bars of Alaska are places of lawlessness, notoriety, fellowship, sanctuary and community as well as a good place to get a beer. Used as meeting places, banks, churches, community halls, employment centers and homes, bars have and do fill functions that are sometimes lacking in Alaskan towns. Author Doug Vandegraft will give a walking tour of some of Kodiak’s most notorious bars, both past and present. Starting at the Baranov Museum at 7pm, it will travel through downtown, visiting sites of former notorious bars and stopping in at those that remain. B&B Bar in 1899. The B&B is still in the original building, though the location has changed.
