Why Was Notre Dame Built? Notre Dame was built to honor the
Virgin Mary They built Notre Dame so it could be
a church to people can go to. Also, Notre means our and Dame
means lady

The first stone of Notre Dame was blessed in 1163 by Pope Alexander the third
In the front of the building there are 28 statues that represent the monarchs of Judea and Israel
In 1991, people started a 10 years renovation process, because the cathedral is so old that some of the pressure points are going to be supported by some scaffolds

Notre Dame is built in a gothic style It is also built as a cathedral with a
beautiful interior with a huge stain glass piece when you first walk in.
One of the stain glasses is called the rose window, it is the most famous of them all and it draws tourists from all around the world

Why is Notre Dame Famous? Notre Dame is famous because of its
interior; the pews provide a outstanding view of the pulpit and everything behind it
Also, the two towers that stand tall at the entrance of the building attract people too
Finally, the pure tallness attracts people even if they did not go their to look at Notre Dame
