ใชน้ำาหน้าขอ้ความท่ีเป็นลักษณะการถามวา่ใชห่รอืไม่ if ใชไ้ด้เฉพาะนำาหน้า noun clause ท่ีเป็นกรรม เท่านัน้

สว่น whether ใชไ้ด้ทกุกรณี

การใช้ Noun Clauses ท่ีขึน้ต้นด้วย if หรอื whether มีหลักเกณฑ์ดังน้ี

1. Noun Clauses ท่ีขึน้ต้นด้วย if หรอืwhether

คือ indirect yes/no questions นัน่เอง เชน่ Direct Question: Did they pass the exam? Indirect Question: I don’t know if they passed the exam.

Noun Clauses ท่ีขึ้นต้นด้วย Wh-Words Ex. I’m taking with my friend who lives near my house. Noun clauses ท่ีขึ้นต้นด้วย if หรอื whether Ex. I’m asking my friend if he can help me.

3. จะขึน้ต้น Noun Clauses ด้วยคำาวา่ if หรอื whether ก็ได้ แต่มกัใช้ whether ในสถานการณ์ท่ีค่อนขา้งเป็นทางการ
