WAIHI EAST SCHOOL SCHOOL NEWSLETTER 36/2014 19 November 2014

Kia ora After careful checking of the cameras, and discussions with the lines people, I would like to say the final relay of the day was won by the staff team! Just joking, but goodness me what an awesome day of activity on Friday. Children were extremely engaged and enjoyed their day of learning outside the classroom. It was lovely to see so many whanau at school helping and cheering at the sidelines. On behalf of the school community I would like to thank Phil and his student leaders for assisting our school wide training programme each week and putting on a very successful event on Friday. Congratulations to our year five and six place holders who competed today at the cluster event. As always, we are very proud of you. Congratulations to Isobel F, Kyla and Madison M, Brooke G and Madison D for your awesomeness at the Waihi A & P Show. The results were fabulous and the ribbons and cups well received. Please enjoy your success. Assembly was postponed last week due to athletics. We are back up and running this Friday at 1.40pm. This week rooms 4,8 and 9 will share their learning. Come along and check out these little stunners. Due to the biking component of our Christmas Team Whanau Party, we have postponed our school trithalon on the 26th until 2015. The Christmas party is shaping up to be a fabulous event. Please let us know if you would like to join Team Whanau and help raise money for camp 2015. Our school library will be closing at the end of this month to allow for our annual stock take. At this time we will also stop sending home readers. Please do not stop reading, instead take time to read brochures in the mail, emails, text, shopping lists, join our local town library. Any form of reading is cool, and it can be rather exciting to be doing something different. It’s the time of year that we reflect on our celebrations, and next steps. Our year six students are getting amped about their next step in education as they attend interviews with senior college staff and we all chug along. As part of our next steps Year six leavers will be able to buy a Waihi East 2014 leavers shirt. Keep your eyes peeled for this opportunity, they will be amazing.
