PROBLEM STATEMENTS

Low slope elastomeric roof coatings (ERC) applied to metal roofs require the need of a secondary primer layer for corrosion protection

Primer layers often contain a heavy metal based corrosion inhibitors – e.g. Zinc phosphate

Dirt pick-up (from pollution, smog, dust) is the leading cause of reduced solar reflectance for aged white ERCs

High slope roof coatings are often non-white and require expensive IR pigments to reflect solar radiation

Current elastomeric roof coatings (ERC) on metal roofs:- Primer coating layer containing anti-corrosive

pigment (e.g. zinc phosphate, a heavy metal based product) is used to prevent further corrosion

- White elastomeric roof coating which provides solar reflectance and thermal emissivity is applied over onto the dried primer

- ERC contains TiO2, CaCO3, ZnO- More paint on roof, more weight, higher costs- Higher installation and inventory costs

One-coat elastomeric roof coating (ERC) on metal roofs:- Go Primerless!- One coat of the white elastomeric roof coating can be

applied- ERC provides anticorrosive performance, solar

reflectance and thermal emissivity with improved DPUR- Lower maintenance costs
