THE PACESETTER: The largest environmental firm in Los Angeles County is Waste Management Inc. The Houston company has 1,221 employees in the county who work in recycling, power generation, and solid-waste collection and disposal. One of the company’s largest local recycling centers is in Sun Valley. The Sun Valley Recycling Park has been owned and operated by the company since 1986. Several years ago, the site was converted from a landfill to the current facility. The company has a total of 24 facilities in the county that provide a variety of residential, commercial and industrial waste services.
