PE©PLE, PLACES, & E~ Around the Neighborhood

Congratulations to Jack and Marcy Eannarelli on the arrival of their new son, John Anthony. John arrived on October 2 and joins big sister Jacqueline at their home on Ten Curves Dr.

Thanks to Barb and Dan Fillion for organizing the block party for White Tall Dr. About 40 people attended the event and enjoyed meeting friends and neighbors. Kids- parents, too- enjoyed apple bobbing, volleyball, bubble-gum blowing, and a penny scramble. Thanks to Randall's for providing hot dogs for the event.

Cub Scouts of Oakwood Glen enjoyed a camp out at Camp Strake on Oct. 8. Beautiful weather cooperated and a good time was had by all, with campfires, a marbles tournament, a "lost child" hunt, tugof-war, and more. Congratulations to all the new Bobcats of the subdivision!

By the way, the reason the Announcement Board stayed the same for so long was that the glass and lock had to be repaired. Thanks to Lori Cooney for doing such a great job taking care of announcements.

-., Adult Co-Ed Volleyball

Come join your neighbors for some recreat ional volleyball on Sunday afternoons at 4:00. Good exercise and good fun at Oakwood Glen Park in the rear of the subdivision.

BICYCLE ACCIDENTS CAN BE FATAL-........~

The bicycle is truly a wonderful invention, giving kids some independence and enjoyable exercise at the same time, and giving parents a break from "taxi-inga if the distance isn't too far.

Kids are taught bicycle safety every year at school, at scouts, and at home. One facet of bicycle safety that is often overlooked is the use of adequate lights and reflectors for riding at dusk or after dark.

A resident recently called after a near collision with a bike rider. Proceeding through an intersection after stopping, he didn't see a speeding cyclist until he was illuminated by his headlights-almost too late! The cyclist had no light on his bike and no reflectors.

You may think that you or your child has no need for a light, but remember that it is getting dark earlier and will soon be dark before many residents get home from work. A last-minute dash to get a homework assignment, to retrieve something forgotten, or to get in a little exercise might be your last dash-period. If you do not have a light on your bike, PLEASE DO NOT RIDE AFTER DARK. Several serious accidents involving bicyclists have occurred In our area in recent years.
