The cool thing is that I don't have to think about it any- more. I don't have to think "I'm going to be virtuous in this situation." They are with me. I have the virtue to be honest with people in the entertainment business; to remain loyal to those who have gone to bat for me. I have the diligence to keep working at be- coming the actor I want to be, make the kind of films that can change people's lives, and to know that with future great success will come great responsbility to give back to oth- ers. And I have brotherly love. The support from my brothers has been amazing since I jumped into this business 100%. It would be very difficult to do this alone. And having my brothers stand by me helps me make it through when times are tough. Knowing that I have those friends I can call anytime gives me so much peace of mind. And you can bet that as my career and life keeps expanding, SigEp will be a big part of it. I'll always remember what the best fraternity in the world has done for me, and to be able to give back with my time and with monetary donations will be a wonderful feel- ing. Thank you all for everything you do for me and for your fraternity. HFF, Erich Hover Alumni '02

SigEp Spotlight: Reflection of Brotherhood SigEp Spotlight is a new feature to the alumni newsletter. Each edition will highlight one or two brothers and their reflection on their SigEp experience.

Do you ever ask yourself......"How did I get here?" It's a question that I ask myself of-ten. As an actor working in arguably the craziest industry in the world, living in Los Ange-les, one of the biggest cities in the world, it's hard not too. I love films, and it took me a few different career moves before I decided it's what I wanted to do for a living. I could-n't be happier with my decision so far. Because of my faith, the support of a great fam-ily, my leadership opportunities in Sigma Phi Epsilon, and the support of my Si-gEp brothers...I am built for this.

I love Sigma Phi Epsilon. Anyone who knows me knows I bleed it. It's inside me, and it always will be. I remember my first week in SigEp and I remember graduating and hav-ing to leave as an undergrad. Both events stick with me as major moments in my life. And everything else in between. The meetings, the rituals, the functions, the intramurals, the parties, the philanthropy, the love. Sig Ep was there for me when I got the big leader-ship position or when I got the big job. SigEp was also there for me when I lost a family member and lost the big job. Brotherly love is not convenient. It is real and true and is as strong a bond as almost anything in the world. I am so grateful. I will remember it all for-ever.

And now, a few years later, as an alumni, it still stays with me.

Along with my parents and grandparents, I believe SigEp helped raise me and make me into the man I am today. And working in a business where many people are dishonest and will do anything for more money (not everyone, luckily I've been blessed with work-ing with very good people so far) it is those three cardinal principles that have made me able to stay focused and true. The cool thing is that I don't have to think about it any-more. I don't have to think "I'm going to be virtuous in this situation." They are with me. I have the virtue to be honest with people in the entertainment business; to remain loyal to those who have gone to bat for me. I have the diligence to keep working at be-coming the actor I want to be, make the kind of films that can change people's lives, and to know that with future great success will come great responsbility to give back to oth-ers.

I'll always remember what the best fraternity in the world has done for me, and to be able to give back with my time and with monetary donations will be a wonderful feel-ing. Thank you all for everything you do for me and for your fraternity.

Undergraduate News The undergraduate chapter did very well with fall recruitment. They signed over 25 guys and were well ahead of the Delts (10) and Pikes (5). This is proof that the principals of the Balanced Man Program work. The chapter is also celebrating the winning of another Buc Cup. This is the highest award that the chapter can receive from Nationals. That brings the total of Buc Cups to 3 for the Nebraska Gamma Chapter. The UNK chapter of SigEp was mentioned in the National Journal for Fall 2007 as being a silver cup recipient. If you don’t receive The Journal, you can access it at http://sigep.com/documents/journal-fall-2007.pdf

The new Executive Board for 2007-2008 is as follows:

President: Grant Campbell

VP Programming: Tyler Macke

VP Finance: Brian Hying

VP Membership Development: Mason Doughty

VP Recruitment: Evan Volzke

Chaplain: Jimmy Blex

Although it is short notice, the chapter is trying to get something together for Founder’s Day. There are a couple of LOPER home games left, October 18th against Chadron State and November 3rd against New Mexico Highlands. The undergrad chapter would like to get the alumni out to Kearney for a get together to catch up on old times and discuss the future of the house. More information will be coming soon on a date.
