WITH SADNESS Members will be saddened with the news of the passing of Leslie Groves, our thoughts are with his wife Pat and their extended family, many whom are members of the club. Les will be remembered for his drives in the Ford GT and in recent years watching family members competing at events. Thanks for the memories.

President’s Report November 2015 Before I start I would again like to remind members of the changed date for this year’s Christmas Party and Presentation Night – It is on Saturday night 19th December and tickets which are supplemented cost wise are available at Matt Windsor’s and David Robinson’s workshops. The change was necessary to facilitate catering and any inconvenience is regretted. Please get your tickets early so as to avoid disappointment. Where did the year go ? They say that time goes faster as you get older- if it goes any quicker I will need a CAMS licence for that.I am a little frustrated with myself that we did not achieve the objective of encouraging more juniors through “Come and Try Event” – hopefully next year if we can muster active assistance. To all members who have vehicles on Historic Registration with BLCC as Primary Club please ensure that your club membership is renewed before 31st December so as to be compliant with RMS requirement with regard to your Green Slip and Registration cover- no current membership at time of use of vehicle makes vehicle technically unregistered in event of any incident- please remember to sort matter early. At a committee level regarding the 60 day Log Booked Historic Registration Trial we have taken the decision to register for inclusion with Roads and Maritime Services for the new system. The RMS should have made necessary adjustments by the time this publication goes to print. After discussion no special conditions were placed on members participating however I would ask from personal perspective that any new members wishing to avail themselves of the benefit that consideration be given to assisting the club as a volunteer on occasion at an event as we need numbers please. Motorkhana and Khannacross events continue to be popular and well supported and I thank those members who are coming forward to assist in filling jobs to facilitate the success of the days for both junior and senior members. Thank you to John Windsor for the maintenance of the grounds and all others in the running of events- it is a big ask and much appreciated. The last event at “The Quarry” has been run and won- thank you to all who made it possible and those competitors who attended. The most recent Vis-Navigation Trial was a little challenging -5 teams took part and Tony kept to form. It was a good day out and fun for all- keep it in mind for next year. Try your skills. As an incentive to assist in attracting new Junior Members and keep those that we are lucky enough to have the cost Of Motorkhanna Entry fees will be reduced to $25 per event starting next season- we hope this helps. Our last club event is looming on last weekend of November and the fields are already full resulting in many competitors missing out- that fact is regretted however cannot be easily overcome with the limitations imposed on us. Will all members please consider assisting us with the running of the events- they don’t happen by themselves. Just because you have not been phoned please do not feel left out CONTACT Scott or myself as we welcome your assistance. On that same note could I ask that members consider getting involved to become Club Chiefs etc moving to Clerks Of Course etc to ensure that BLCC events can remain just that – no officials means no events. That in turn turns into money and fun diminishing. HELP PLEASE – courses can be conducted here in Bathurst to make it cheaper and more achievable. Once you have the qualification it is no burden to carry and the more we have the lighter the load for everybody.

Page 4: November 2015 Blower - Bathurst Light Car Club · Christmas Party and Presentation Night – It is on Saturday night 19 th December and tickets which are supplemented cost wise are

I hope all members had an enjoyable and fulfilling year in your family lives, work and motor sport throughout the year- and we look forward to seeing you next year and so on. I would like to thanks all members and in some cases non members who assisted the club throughout the year to bring again the success we have achieved with events- there are individuals who go beyond the call behind the scenes. Thank you sincerely. Last but not least another note for consideration please look at your available time next year to assist in the running of our great club as new management members may/will be required to take over next year in some roles (training and support will be available/provided and not far away) Please consider as many are getting old. Take care have a lovely Christmas and New Year - drive safe and carefully if and when travelling over the festive season. Yours in Motor Sport Mick Tuckey President 2015

2016 RALLY UPDATE

The rally calendars for the 2016 NSW Rally Series’ are very close to being finalised, after many months of discussion, deliberation and negotiation. The 2016 calendar is one of the busiest we’ve seen in many years and includes a number of new and returning events.

The NSW Rally Panel is incredibly excited by the number and variety of events that have applied to be a part of all the NSW Rally Series. As part of the Panel’s overall objective to reignite rallying in NSW, it has long been a goal to see more clubs conducting events. The state of the calendar for 2016 really is testament to the overall health of our sport. The hardest decision you may make in 2016 is in choosing which rallies to run!

Given the large number of new events on the calendars, the Rally Panel is seeking some general feedback and comments from the rally community. About the look and structure of each calendar, and about some of the specific events on each calendar. Please consider the calendars and our comments about each of them below, and if you have any comments send us an email at [email protected] or call Katie on 0406 234 716. The calendars are still in draft, and will be finalised in early December at the next State Executive meeting.

A New Look Rally Panel for 2016

At the NSW State Executive meeting on October 17, Katie Fletcher was appointed to the position of Chairperson of the NSW Rally Panel for 2016. Acting Panel Chairman Colin Fletcher has now stood down from that position, which means that we now welcome Katie to the role effective immediately.

Katie first joined the NSW Rally Panel in 2013. She brought with her marketing skills with which she initiated the branding change to Rally NSW, the social media presence and the online activities with which Rally NSW has become synonymous. Since then she has led the Rally NSW team (as a subcommittee) to radically and energetically reshape the way the Rally Panel promotes our sport in NSW. Katie will lead the 2016 Panel with energy and enthusiasm, and under her capable stewardship the continued resurgence of NSW rallying is the absolute priority of the Panel.

The 2016 NSW Rally Panel has plans to continue to build on the foundations of the previous two years with some exciting new initiatives in the pipeline. The new funding model has already been announced, which allows individuals to contribute financially and paves the way for more businesses to support the Rally NSW brand. It is planned that this new funding will underpin a raft of initiatives aimed at reducing risk to rally organisers, which should in turn see rallying returning to parts of NSW that have been barren for some time.

The 2016 Panel will continue to be fiscally and fiducially responsible, and employ the highest governance standards, whilst remaining open to input from all clubs and individuals. The final makeup of the 2016 Rally Panel will be announced in coming weeks.

AMSAG 2016

2016 Pipe King AMSAG Southern Cross Rally Series an d new AMSAG Facebook Page announced

A new season approaches and a new look for AMSAG is released. Please go to https://www.facebook.com/AMSAGRallySeries/ to like the page and receive updates moving into the future.

We have taken the steps to create a new page due to constraints in reopening the AMSAG Rally Series Facebook Group to an open group. To explain a little further, after the incident involving John Giddings a decision was made to turn the public AMSAG Facebook Group to a closed group, unfortunately we were not aware at the time that we would not be able to simply return it to an open group as we had more than 250 members.

Now we could have simply deleted everyone to reopen the group and then re-added everyone, however this would have been a very time consuming and tedious task. Therefore we believe this new page is a much simpler and more effective way of reaching our members and sharing news about the upcoming events and other news concerning AMSAG and the Southern Cross Rally Series.

You will still be able to make posts onto the page, as per the group, and we will still be able to effectively and efficiently pass on news and updates to everyone.

With this, we wish to announce the calendar for the 2016 Pipe King AMSAG Southern Cross Rally Series.

The year will kick off with 2 Non Series events both being Rallysprint events rather than the traditional rallies. These events will not count towards the Pipe King AMSAG Southern Cross Rally Series, however depending upon their popularity, we may look at changing that for 2017.

The first event will be a Rallysprint on 27th February to be held around Tathra on the South Coast directed by Pip Barker. And the second Rallysprint will be on 2nd April in the Jenolan area and directed by Jamie Neale. We will have further details about these events as they get closer.

For the Pipe King AMSAG Southern Cross Rally Series, the rounds will be as follows:-Round 1 - Oberon Rally - 23rd & 24th April to be directed by Stuart Southam & Richard Montford

Round 2 - John Giddings Memorial Rally of Orange - 21st May to be directed by Peter Crich

Round 3 - Blacksmiths Inn Rally Johns River - 30th July to be directed by Pacific Rally Club (Stuart Southam & co)

Round 4 - Blayney Rally - 27th August to be directed by Peter Crich

Round 5 - Bulahdelah Rally - 1st October to be directed by Paul Bramble

Round 6 - Bombala Rally - 29th & 30th October (director TBA)

Facebook Events have been created on this page for each round, if you could express your interest for each event it would be greatly appreciated, we will share more details about the events as they come up and we have some exciting plans in place that have either not been done for a long time, or never before within AMSAG.

2016 is shaping up to be a great year for AMSAG and we can't wait to get the wheels rolling for the new season.

Details regarding the Presentation Night and AGM with also be released shortly.

THREE WAY TIE FOR ROB WORBOYS MEMORIAL TROPHY

After four rounds of the Rob Worboys Memorial Trials Series there was a three way tie for first place between Trevor Seaman, Robert and Christine Wells. Trevor went into the final round with a one point lead but dropped a point to allow Robert and Christine to close the gap. Five teams contested the final round, starting in Bathurst winding its way to Molong for lunch before returning to the BLCC for the finish. Three teams finished with a perfect score Robert and Christine Wells with Jeff West (Subaru), Steve and Heather Brumby (Alfa Romeo), Tony and Bev Jordan (Triumph) A pleasant surprise at lunch was Gwyn Mulholland and Queensland member Donnie Vidler arriving, in the Mulholland’s Austin Healy, for lunch.

CHAPMAN WINS AT OBERON The Chapman/ Grabham WRX finished first outright and allowed Joe Chapman to secure the 2015 AMSAG championship. Joe was in a battle with Ron Moore for outright going into the Oberon round and Ron was ahead after the first two stages when the Moore’s EVO 6 had an altercation with some wildlife and their rally was over

THE 2016 HI-TEC OILS BATHURST 6 HOUR

A bumper grid is assured when the 2016 Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour makes its debut at the Bathurst Motor Festival next Easter.

50 entries across 8 different classes have been received by organisers at the time of the ‘early bird’ entry offer closing, though final entries do not need to be submitted by until 28 February next year allowing plenty of time for the grid to grow further.

The entry list reads as a ‘who’s who’ of Australian Production Car racing from both the NSW Production Touring Car series and the Australian Manufacturers / Production Car Championship and points to a strong kick-off for the brand new Bathurst enduro.

The massive field is set to provide an enthralling spectacle for fans and a great race for competitors, with a grid that goes back to Bathurst’s history of providing big fields of production-based cars and multi-class racing.

Strong competition is expected throughout the deep field with a wide spread of vehicles catering to all kinds of motoring fans.

17 entries have been received for the outright A1/A2 classes catering for ‘extreme’ performance cars both turbocharged and normally aspirated.

Two cars each from CXC Global Racing, Melbourne Performance Centre and Jim Pollicina’s Poll Performance outfit will help tip the ledger in favour of Mitsubishi’s popular Lancer Evolution, though former Formula Vee and Sports Racer national champion Adam Proctor will be hoping for a strong run from his all-new Subaru Impreza WRX STi.

BMW fans will have strong entries from Beric Lynton and Kyntire Racing (BMW 1Ms) and the Searle family outfit (M135i).

The normally aspirated class features a host of HSV Commodore models with their big V8’s set to stretch their legs up and down Mount Panorama’s long straights.

Class B1 and B2, for high performance cars both turbocharged or normally aspirated, includes a diverse mix of entries including Ford Falcon XR6 Turbo, a range of different BMW models and plenty of Aussie muscle.

Class C (Performance) includes cars like Rick Shaw’s Mazda RX-8, a host of Renault Megane entries and several BMWs.

A strong 10-car entry has been received for Class D (Production) made up primarily of a host of Toyota’s incredibly popular rear-drive ‘86’ sports car – six of that model having been entered. The ‘baby’ class E has received two entries while the Invitational class includes three AU Ford Falcons from the ranks of Australian Saloon Car competition.

The Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour will be streamed live via the www.bathurstmotorfestival.com.au website with post-produced TV coverage to air on SBS Speedweek following the race.
