heavenly places in Christ (Ephesians 1:3).

TThe Christian is the blessed of the Lord, and part ofwhat it means to be blessed is to be empowered to

prosper. God has empowered you to prosper in everythingyou do. This is so wonderful, because it means there’s nodryness, stagnation, lack or unproductivity in your life. You’vebeen chosen and ordained for a life of praise, joy, excellence,victory, and glory in Christ Jesus.

Some Christians look at their lives and situation toconclude that maybe they’re not really blessed after all. “Idon’t have a car; I don’t have a house; I don’t have money;how could anybody say that I’m blessed?” they would query.What they don’t realize is that life is spiritual, and the spiritualworld controls the physical realm.

If you’d first acknowledge and profess in agreementwith God’s Word that indeed, you’re the blessed of the Lord,those things which you can see and perceive—the symbols ofprosperity—such as houses, cars, a good job, money, etc., willnecessarily manifest as the results of the blessing. They’re not

the blessing, but the effect of the blessing. The blessing is anunseen power or force that causes good things to happen toyou, with you, for you, and through you! It causes the glory ofGod to be seen in your life.

The Holy Spirit is inside you to teach you God’s Wordand how to activate His blessings in your life. He’ll teach youto talk right, walk right and live right until those around youare overwhelmed by the results of God’s blessing upon yourlife.

TThe first chapter of Genesis gives a clear narration ofhow God brought creation into being. It tells us in

verses twenty and twenty-one precisely what God did: Hespoke words. He said, “…Let“…Let therethere be…”be…” and everything Hesaid came into being. Then in the twenty-second verse, weobserve something: He blessed every living creature that Hecreated saying, “…Be“…Be fruitful,fruitful, andand multiply,multiply, andand fillfill thethe waterswatersinin thethe seas,seas, andand letlet fowlfowl multiplymultiply inin thethe earth.”earth.”

He spoke to create, and He blessed what He created,with words. When He said, “Be fruitful and multiply,” Heinvoked into them the power to multiply, the power toincrease mightily and to spread. He did it with words. Hedid the same thing after He created man. Genesis 1:27 says,“…God“…God createdcreated manman inin hishis ownown image,image, inin thethe imageimage ofof GodGodcreatedcreated hehe him;him; malemale andand femalefemale createdcreated hehe them.”them.”

Then in verse twenty-eight, we read that He blessedthem saying, “…Be“…Be fruitful,fruitful, andand multiply,multiply, andand replenishreplenish thetheearth,earth, andand subduesubdue it:it: andand havehave dominiondominion overover thethe fishfish ofof thethesea,sea, andand overover thethe fowlfowl ofof thethe air,air, andand overover everyevery livingliving thingthingthatthat movethmoveth uponupon thethe earth.”earth.” Observe that God created manin His own image, and likeness. That means He created manto look like Him (in His image), and to function like Him (inHis likeness).

Therefore, since God creates and blesses with words,it means we have the ability, and are required to function likeHim. We bless and create with our words. Your words areso important. Only say things that are consistent with the will

So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by theword of God (Romans 10:17).

GGod’s Word is trustworthy and infallible; you canstake your life on it. But you can’t rely on or trust in

something you don’t know about. You can only have faith insomething you have information on.

For instance, if I made you a promise that I’d giveyou a car-gift tomorrow, you’d have faith for the car becausethe information has bolstered your hope; I’ve given you thereason to expect a car tomorrow. And because you trustmy word, you’d move from mere “hope” to the confidentassurance that, come what may, you’re going to have a cartomorrow.

Though you haven’t even seen it yet, you’dimmediately start sharing your testimony of a new car, justbecause I said, “I have a car for you.” Faith came to youbecause of what I said, which you heard. If I didn’t sayanything, or even if I said it, but you didn’t hear it, youwouldn’t have had faith to the point of telling your friends, “Inow have a car.”

That’s how it is with God’s Word. Information fromGod’s Word will cause you to have faith in God. That’s whatwe read in our opening verse: faith comes by hearing, andhearing by the Word of God. The Word produces and impartsfaith to your spirit. You don’t have to struggle or try to makeit happen; just hear the Word, and faith will be stirred in yourspirit.

You may have noticed that, sometimes, as you listen toGod’s Word, maybe while in church or during your personalstudy, all the challenges you may have been facing suddenly

seem like nothing. The reason is, when the Word of Godenters your spirit, it sparks up faith in you. The Word becomesreal in your spirit, giving you a sense of victory and dominion.

JJesus said, “…Go“…Go yeye intointo allall thethe world,world, andand preachpreach thethegospelgospel toto everyevery creature”creature” (Mark 16:15). If you truly

believe in what Christ did for you; if you believe that His workof salvation was important, and that you actually received thatsalvation, you can’t keep it to yourself. You have to tell othersabout Jesus. You have to be active in soul winning.

Every so often, pray and ask the Lord to put someonein your heart that you can lead to Christ and invite to church;someone you can share the Word of God with and bring tochurch. It’s important to pray for the salvation of those in yourworld, and in far off regions, whose hearts the Lord wouldmake ready to receive eternal life (Acts 13:48).

The Bible says in Acts 2:47 that the Lord added to thechurch daily, such as should be saved, letting us know thatevery day, there’re those that are appointed and ordainedfor salvation. There’re those whom the Lord ordained shouldbecome part of the church, but it’s our responsibility to reachout to them and bring them into the Kingdom.

Some people don’t find the things of God pleasant;they don’t see the need to go to church, not because they’recongenital atheists, but because they don’t understand orknow enough. They’ve always and only heard the wronginformation, from the wrong people about God. This hasbeclouded their opinion and given them the wrongperception about God and the Church.

It’s part of the reason we must be more passionate,strategic, painstaking, and unrelenting in our soul winning

efforts. We must keep preaching the Gospel and intercedingfor lost souls. The Bible describes those who aren’t bornagain as hopeless, and alienated from the life of God, thus,appointed to the judgment or wrath of God (Ephesians 4:18,Ephesians 2:12; Ephesians 2-3).

Make it your life’s purpose that the sinners in yourworld aren’t going to keep living without hope. Share theGospel with them. Help them discover God’s light, andreceive His righteousness. You’re His witness. He saved youand made you His partner in saving others.

OOne of the many benefits of going to church is theopportunity for corporate worship. Worshipping

God on your own is wonderful, but as Christians, we’rerequired to come together in our respective congregations toworship the Lord, because His intention is to grow Hischildren as families. Of course, there’re families wherenobody recognizes another—no communication betweenparents and the children—that’s not ideal.

God lets us have our individual worship, individualprayers, individual Christian service, but there’s also corporateworship, corporate prayer, and corporate service; things wedo together as a congregation. In as much as each one ofus has the responsibility to study the Word of God on ourown, we should also come together to hear the Word of Godas a congregation. These are Christian responsibilities andthey’re designed by God for the growth, nourishment, andstrengthening of the individual child of God, and the body ofChrist as a whole.

Don’t miss such things. They’re not just programmesof the church; they’re responsibilities given to us through the

Word of God. It’s got nothing to do with whether you feellike it or not, because even when you don’t feel like going towork on a Monday morning, you still go because the job isimportant to you.

TThe Complete Jewish Bible translation of our openingtext says, “If“If youyou remainremain unitedunited withwith me,me, andand mymy

What the Lord Jesus is saying is that if you abide orstay in Him, and His words dwell in you, whatever demandyou make of anything that you like, prefer or desire, shallhappen for you. He didn’t say God will do it, or that He (Jesus)will do it. This isn’t prayer; the verses on prayer are different.This one is about living in Christ, and His words dwelling inyou—knowing your rights and authority in Christ, and learningto put that authority to work.

It’s amazing what God has made possible for us inChrist Jesus! You can say, “In the Name of the Lord JesusChrist, I’m going to walk in health continually; I’ll never be sickin my life,” and it shall be so. If you had problems with yourbody; maybe a tumour or cancerous growth in your body andyou say, “In the Name of the Lord Jesus Christ, I commandthis cancer to die and pass out of my body”; if you say that,the Master says it’ll come to pass; it’ll happen.

It’s important to understand this and practise it in yourlife. The Word of God is for doing, not just for you to hear.You hear it and you do it. That’s how to walk in the gloryof God. Remember the key: abide in Him and let His Wordsabide in you.

Have the Word of God in you in abundance, so thatin every situation, in every crisis of life, in all circumstances,you’ll respond according to the Word, and not according to

OOur theme scripture reveals one of the manyamazing blessings of the Christian! Notice that it

doesn’t say, “We shall be the temple of the living God whenwe get to heaven,” but that “we are the temple of the livingGod.” It doesn’t get better than that. This is a present-hourtruth.

The word translated “temple” isn’t the ordinaryeveryday temple, but the specific word that refers to an innershrine; it’s the Greek word “naos.” “Naos” refers to the shrinethat houses the image of the “god”; it’s the inner sanctuarywhere the image of the god is kept. That’s what Paul is sayinghere.

For the Jews, it was the Holy of Holies; that’s wherethe presence of God was. They didn’t have an image in there,but the presence of Jehovah was inside there. The place thatthe presence of God resides is the very place that Paul isreferring to here. When the Holy Spirit took up His abode inthe quarters of your heart, you ceased to be an ordinary man;you became God’s living tabernacle.

In reality, everywhere you go, God goes, because

you’re His house. He talks in you, and He looks through youreyes, but not many Christians are cognizant of this reality;hence, they live as mere men. The temple of God, which youare, is where God resides in all His power and majesty.

Likewise, when you show up, the devil bows, becausehe can’t stand God’s glory, and that glory is in your spirit.

God’s purpose is for you to walk in the supernaturalevery day. Imagine an eagle that grows upamongst chickens, and never learned to fly. It’ll live the life ofchickens, yet it’s an eagle, with powerful wings to fly.

That’s the way some Christians are; they don’t knowthey have power over sickness, power over crises, powerover the devil, and circumstances of life. Therefore, they liveas victims. The Bible says you’re seated together with Christfar above all principalities and power (Ephesians 1:21 andEphesians 2:6). Satan isn’t a factor. You’re superior to him and

TThe English translation of the New Testament sectionof the Bible was derived from the Greek. The old

Greek words are written differently from what you’d see inEnglish, because the English language isn’t rich enough toexpress certain spiritual realities; it’s overly generic in nature.

For instance, the English language uses only one wordto represent “love,” but in the Greek, about four differentwords are used. This helps to clarify what kind of love is beingreferred to. When you say for example, “I love my wife,” inthe Greek, it’s a different word from when you say, “I love mycountry.” Then when you say, “I love football,” that’s anotherGreek word.

The same goes for the word, “knowledge”; there’re atleast four different words translated “knowledge” in Greek.Our opening verse says, “According“According asas hishis divinedivine powerpower hathhathgivengiven untounto usus allall thingsthings thatthat pertainpertain untounto lifelife andand godliness,godliness,throughthrough thethe knowledgeknowledge ofof himhim thatthat hathhath calledcalled usus toto glorygloryandand virtue”virtue” (2 Peter 1:3). “Knowledge” here isn’t dealingwith general knowledge or the knowledge of science (Greek:“Gnosis”) but with absolute knowledge that comes throughrevelation and relationship; the Greek word is “epignosis.”

TThere’s so much to learn in church. Every churchservice you attend, the Spirit of God has something

special planned for you. It’s an opportunity for your life to beimproved. It’s therefore important that you cultivate the habitof attending church services. Attending church is like being inschool. Imagine a student who isn’t consistent with hislectures in class, he’s very unlikely to make good grades.

I recall a certain gentleman, very well read and widelytravelled. After two years of being consistent in church, hesaid to me, “I never knew I would discover and learn so muchin my life, just by coming to church.”

There’re many things that we have to do in buildingour lives as Christians. For instance, how do we worship God?Jesus said, “God“God isis aa Spirit:Spirit: andand theythey thatthat worshipworship himhim mustmustworshipworship himhim inin spiritspirit andand inin truth”truth” (John 4:24). This meansworship is very important to the Father, and He desires thatwe worship Him the right way. We have to find out whatit means to worship Him in spirit and in truth. Such thingsare learned from the Word of God, when you go to churchregularly. Then you’d be amazed at your growth, at yourwisdom, at the way you relate with others, at the happeningsin your life. You’ll know you’re growing; you’ll see your life goupward and forward.

This means you’re not supposed to ever be in lackor want. How could you be in need of money for yourchildren’s school fees when all things are yours? How couldyour business go bankrupt when all things are yours? Whyshould you be in search of a financier for your projects whenall things are yours? Why would you be crying and beggingfor money to start a business when all things are yours?

The problem is that you haven’t believed enough. Themoment you dare to believe God’s Word that, really andtruly, all things belong to you, your situation will change. Thisis neither a fable nor a fairytale; all things are indeed yours,because you’re an heir of God and a joint-heir with Christ.The whole world belongs to Him. He said in Haggai 2:8, “The“Thesilversilver isis mine,mine, andand thethe goldgold isis mine….”mine….” They also belong toyou, because you’re His joint heir.

In reality,however, the Prophet Isaiah was here talking to the Jews andnot to Christians. He gives them a preview of the grace of thecoming Messiah, and tells them, “…with“…with hishis stripesstripes wewe arearehealed.”healed.”

Then the Apostle Peter, in his epistle, looks back at theCross, and says “…by“…by whosewhose stripesstripes yeye werewere healed”healed” (1 Peter2:24). But he was talking to the Jews. He wasn’t talking toevery Christian. The Jews were the ones under the covenant;the covenant of healing was for the Jewish Church, the OldTestament Church. They were the ones healed by His stripes.

The Church of Jesus Christ that was born after Hisresurrection, in the real sense, doesn’t require healing fromGod. The Church has a self-healing mechanism. What theChurch received is eternal life; eternal life doesn’t needhealing. Eternal life is the God-life, the very essence of divinity;life that is “uninfectable,” untainted with sickness, disease andinfirmities. If you have eternal life, it doesn’t matter whattrouble you may have in your body, if you’d stir up the gift ofGod—the life of God in your spirit—your whole body will be

vitalized.Our opening text says, “If the spirit of Him that raised

up Jesus from the dead lives in you, He’ll vitalize your mortalbody. The Spirit in you is life-generating. The Bible says thefirst man, Adam, was made a living soul, the second Adamwas made a life giving Spirit (1 Corinthians 15:45). We’re notborn after the first Adam; we’re born after the second Adam,Jesus Christ. Jesus never needed healing; and as He is, so arewe in this world.

You have a life-giving Spirit resident in you. You weregiven a life that’s greater than healing. As long as you’re ababe in Christ, you’ll need healing. The Bible calls healing thechildren’s bread. When you come to maturity, you’ll give upchildish things. You won’t be seeking healing. Rather, you’dsay, “I’ve got the life of God in me; therefore, I’ll never besick.” And if you’re used to getting sick, say, “I’ll never be sickagain, because I have the life of Christ in me.” Hallelujah!

SSome Christians frustrate the grace of God in theirlives. You shouldn’t do that. Don’t frustrate the

grace of God in your life. Rather, let it work to its fullness, toits maximum capacity and final fruition. Let it produce all thatit could do in your life. Don’t let it be that Christ died in vain inyour life; instead be determined to be all that His death,burial, and resurrection consummated for you.

In our previous study, I shared with you somethingabout the divine life that Jesus brought, where sickness is nota part of your system. The question is, will you let it work, orare you going to be seeking healing? Healing is what we giveto the world, and it’s the children’s bread. When you cometo maturity, you appropriate divine life, and affirm that it runsthrough every fibre of your being. You’re conscious that yourbody, being the temple of the Holy Ghost, can’t be sick.

Should anything untoward happen to or in your body,you speak in tongues. Maybe it’s stomach trouble, put yourhand on your tummy and speak in tongues. If it doesn’t stopat that moment, you don’t stop speaking in tongues either.The more it persists, the more you shout in tongues. Frightenthe devil out. James 4:7 says, “…Resist“…Resist thethe devil,devil, andand hehe willwillfleeflee fromfrom you.”you.”

You may ask, “What if the pain is so severe that it’seven difficult to talk, let alone shout?” If you have to whisperit, go ahead. Before long, the Spirit will well up from within

The current situationthat you find yourself in, whether good or bad, is the result ofthe words you’ve spoken in the past. Jesus said you shall havewhatsoever you say (Mark 11:23). So, endeavour to alwayssay the right things, particularly, things that are consistent withthe divine life that you received in Christ Jesus.

Look at our opening verse again; it says, “Death“Death andandlifelife areare inin thethe powerpower ofof thethe tongue….”tongue….” You can bring deathinto your life, family, business and finances, if all you think andtalk about all the time is death. Likewise, you can speak lifeinto your body and circumstances, and be full of health andlife.

A dear lady shared her testimony in one of ourmeetings. She had been in a terrible state, and wanted to diebecause of her condition. She’d been involved in a ghastlyaccident and was in a coma, but she could hear everythinggoing on around her. She heard the doctor talking abouther prognosis, which was very bad, and she wanted to diebecause she thought she would never be normal again. Whileshe was contemplating death, God said to her, “You cannotdie now,” and she thought, “What?”

AAs God’s children, we’re all called into the ministry,and the Lord Jesus gives us a good definition of

what Christian ministry is in our opening verse. Ministry is theoutflow of the rivers of living water in you. The thirty-ninthverse explicates: “But“But thisthis spakespake hehe ofof thethe Spirit,Spirit, whichwhich theytheythatthat believebelieve onon himhim shouldshould receive:receive: forfor thethe HolyHoly GhostGhost waswasnotnot yetyet given;given; becausebecause thatthat JesusJesus waswas notnot yetyet glorified.”glorified.”

The “rivers of living water” He’s talking about is theHoly Spirit. So, ministry is actually the outpouring of the lifeof the Spirit of God from within you! You can’t give what youdon’t have. He says out of your belly, meaning out of yourinnermost being, shall flow rivers of living water. This meansthe Holy Spirit pours out Himself through you.

Talking to His disciples earlier in John 6:63, the Mastersaid, “It“It isis thethe spiritspirit thatthat quickeneth;quickeneth; thethe fleshflesh profitethprofitethnothing:nothing: thethe wordswords thatthat II speakspeak untounto you,you, theythey areare spirit,spirit, andandtheythey areare life.”life.” This is wonderful! The Master’s words weren’tordinary; they were spirit and life. Make this your objective inlife, to speak words that are spirit and life. Don’t seek to be anorator or a good preacher; seek to release words of life. That’swhat makes the difference. That’s how you can stand beforeothers, and as you speak, miracles happen; blessings abound.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, theevidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1).

FFaith is a very simple Kingdom principle tounderstand and apply. The reason some Christians

struggle with their faith is that they try to reason out the Wordof God with their minds. Faith is the response of the humanspirit, not the mind, to the Word of God. Faith is of the spirit,not the senses. The Bible says, “With“With thethe heart,heart, manmanbelieveth…”believeth…” (Romans 10:10). You don’t believe with yourmind, you believe with your heart—your spirit. You can reasonwith your mind, but faith isn’t in the realm of reason.

For example, if you’ve been educated in Biology orMedicine, you know that it’s absolutely impossible for awoman to conceive a child without a male sperm. How thencan you reason out and explain the birth of Jesus Christ?It’s beyond human or natural comprehension. How can youexplain the death, burial, resurrection, and glorious ascensionof Jesus with the knowledge of science? You’ve got to acceptwhat God said in His Word, and that’s faith. You take God atHis Word, whether it makes sense to you or not.

Ephesians 1:3 says, “Blessed“Blessed bebe thethe GodGod andand FatherFather ofofourour LordLord JesusJesus Christ,Christ, whowho hathhath blessedblessed usus withwith allall spiritualspiritualblessingsblessings inin heavenlyheavenly placesplaces inin Christ.”Christ.” Don’t try to reasonout how it happened or if this is really so; believe it andact accordingly. Acknowledge, and affirm that you’ve beenblessed, not just with material things such as houses, cars,money, etc., but with all spiritual blessings, because God saidso.

To them,“seeing is believing”; but that’s not Christianity.

In Christianity, “believing is seeing.” We believe andsee the blessings as real because of what the Word says. Oursis the life of faith in the Word, through the Word, and by theWord.

SSpeaking God’s Word and responding to God’sWord are two different things. Many think they’re

the same, but they’re not. Most have never been taught howto respond to God’s Word and many don’t know what it is toactually speak God’s Word.

A good example of speaking the Word in response toa situation was the encounter between the Lord Jesus andSatan as recorded in Matthew 4:1-4 (read entire reference).The Master responded to Satan, quoting the scripture thatsays, “It“It isis written,written, ManMan shallshall notnot livelive byby breadbread alone,alone, butbutbyby everyevery wordword thatthat proceedethproceedeth outout ofof thethe mouthmouth ofof God”God”(Matthew 4:4). He spoke the Word; He said exactly whatGod already said through Moses, the Prophet.

So, when do you speak the Word? It’s mainly whenSatan throws thoughts at you, and circumstances raise theirvoices against you. You say, “It is written,” and then go aheadto say what is written; don’t try to put it in your own words.Say it exactly as it is in Scripture. We learnt that from Jesus. Hedidn’t try to paraphrase or put it in His own words; He said,“It is written,” and then quoted what was written. He wasn’ttrying to give the interpretation; He gave the Word. It’s oneof the reasons you must have the Word of God in you richly.

Then, how do you respond to the Word? Our themeverse shows us exactly how: it’s by the vocalization of yourfaith on the basis of what God has already said. Yourconfession, resulting from your faith in a specific word orstatement from God is your response to that Word. That’swhat changes your life and circumstances.

The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of theformer, saith the LORD of hosts: and in this place will I

give peace, saith the LORD of hosts (Haggai 2:9).

NNotice the expression “The glory of this latter house”in our opening text. The emphasis here is on the

word “this”, a demonstrative adjective that specifies what isbeing referred to. So, in our opening verse, it refers to thepresent: “this latter house”; it didn’t say, “the latter house.”They’re two different things. The prophet wasn’t talking aboutthe glory of a house in the future, but the glory of “this presenthouse,” the house currently being built.

It’s important to make this clarification, becauseoftentimes when these words are given in propheticlanguage, it’s often said that “The glory of the latter house,shall exceed the former,” but that’s not what God said. Wehave the tendency to always push it to the future, as thoughwe have a plan to build the latter house someday; but it’s notfuturistic!

There was a former house, but it was destroyed; hence,the need for this latter house. So, the prophet says the gloryof this current house, that is, whatever you’re building rightnow, whatever projects or visions you’re involved in, expectthat the glory will by far surpass anything you’ve ever seen orexperienced. What house are you building now? Make it theglorious house of your dream now; don’t push it to the future.

You’ve been exposed to new ideas and innovations;put them to work; upgrade and surpass the old experience.In the previous vision, you had a pattern, and you were goingto build it according to that pattern, but you’ve gained new

Oftentimes, we say in prayer, “I bless you in the Nameof Jesus. I bless you with the Word, and I bless you withthe Holy Ghost.” That’s what we’re doing: distributing theblessings of the Spirit. When Jesus blew on His disciplesin John 20:22 and said, “… ReceiveReceive yeye thethe HolyHoly GhostGhost ,”they received the spirit of understanding, that they mightunderstand the Scriptures. God has counted you faithful and committed theGospel to your trust; therefore, fulfil your ministry in theGospel. See the spread of the Gospel around the world asyour sacred responsibility, and be passionate to do all it takesto fulfil it. Always remember that you’re fully responsible forthose in your world, to bring them the message of salvation.

The Apostle Paul encountered several obstacles andchallenges in the course of preaching the Gospel, but heremained undaunted. Even when the Holy Ghost expresslytestified that he was going to suffer afflictions and beimprisoned as he preached the Gospel (Acts 20:22-23), he

So,like the Apostle Paul, be determined to fulfil your ministry inthe Gospel, and finish your course with joy.

TThe word “Confession” here, is translated from theGreek word “Homologia,” which means to speak

the same thing in consent. Confessing the Word means youagree with, and say what the Word of God says about you,Himself, your world or anyone or situation.

Why is it so important that we confess the Wordboldly? It’s because our confessions are or create realities.Jesus said, “You shall have what you say” (Mark 11:23). Whatare the things you’re supposed to say? They’re the samethings God has already declared in Scriptures.

Hebrews 13:5-6 says, “…for“…for hehe hathhath said…Sosaid…So thatthat wewemaymay boldlyboldly say….”say….” The reason He said what He said is so thatwe may boldly say the same thing. God’s Word isn’t for youto hear and be quiet; you respond by saying the same thing.That’s true confession of the Word. God gave you the Wordso you’ll boldly proclaim it.

Someone might ask, “Must I say it?” Emphatically yes!Otherwise, you’ll never experience the vital reality of theWord of God in your life. It’s the way to get your spirit totake a hold of the Word to become a reality in your life.The Christian life is lived by words; it’s for talkers; talkers ofthe Word. Perhaps you know someone who’s been attackedby cancer, diabetes or any kind of sickness; advise them notto keep quiet! Sadly, many are only concerned about what takesplace in their physical bodies, or how their minds function,losing sight of the most important—their spirit. God is muchmore concerned about your spirit. Proverbs 4:23 says, “Keep“Keepthythy heartheart withwith allall diligence;diligence; forfor outout ofof itit areare thethe issuesissues ofof life.”life.”“Heart” is synonymous with the human spirit, and that versetells us that’s where the issues of life emanate from.

Prosperity, health, wellness, peace, victory, joy, andevery good thing you could ever imagine are all domiciled inyour spirit. Can you see why you should rather give more timeto the development of your spirit? The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge: butfools despise wisdom and instruction (Proverbs 1:7).

OOftentimes, the Word of God comes to us asspiritual instructions. Proverbs 4:13 says, “Take“Take

When an instruction of the Spirit is given, not only isit important that those instructions be understood, they mustalso be acted upon. Any form of resistance or disobedienceis what God refers to as “witchcraft.” The Bible says, “For“Forrebellionrebellion isis asas thethe sinsin ofof witchcraft,witchcraft, andand stubbornnessstubbornness isis asasiniquityiniquity andand idolatry…”idolatry…” (1 Samuel 15:23).

An example is King Saul. God instructed Saul todestroy the Amalekites and everything they had, includingtheir animals, but he ignored the instruction. He didn’t destroytheir sheep and oxen, because according to him, “…the“…thepeoplepeople tooktook ofof thethe spoil,spoil, sheepsheep andand oxen,oxen, thethe chiefchief ofof thethethingsthings whichwhich shouldshould havehave beenbeen utterlyutterly destroyed,destroyed, toto sacrificesacrificeuntounto thethe LordLord thythy GodGod inin Gilgal”Gilgal” (1 Samuel 15:21).

That wasn’t the instruction. The instruction was clear:destroy everything. God didn’t say, “Preserve the choiceanimals for a sacrifice unto me.” It’s important that you followGod’s Word and His instructions to the letter. Do things Hisway, and you’ll always be a success. Saul lost the kingshipover Israel forever, by choosing his own way and harkeningto the voice of the people against God’s specific instruction(Read entire account in 1 Samuel 15:1-23).

Be wise. Even when God’s instructions are contraryto your human reasoning, be like Peter: act on them. Whenthe Lord Jesus asked Peter to cast his net into the sea after

a fruitless fishing expedition (Luke 5), even though theinstruction was contrary to Peter’s reasoning, he obeyed andgot a miracle for it. God’s instructions may come to you in themost unexpected way, follow them, because therein lies yourpromotion.

TThe word “sinners” in our opening verse isn’treferring to the heathen or people who don’t know

God. Rather, in this particular context, it refers to the childrenof Israel who weren’t living right; those that broke the Law,and weren’t living according to God’s instructions.

That’s why the Spirit instructs, “ SupposeSuppose theythey saysay, “Come“Come on;on; let’slet’s findfind someonesomeone toto kill!kill! Being born again, you have the nature of God to doright, and must therefore consciously live right. You’ve beenseparated from the world, unto God, from unrighteousnessunto righteousness, and from darkness to light. You must let go of any attitude that’s not of God. In1 Corinthians 6:5-9, the Apostle Paul chided the Corinthianchurch because their way of life didn’t portray the new natureof righteousness they had received. AAman isn’t a success because other people say he is.A long list of academic, political, or business

achievements isn’t essentially the definition of success. That aperson is famous and celebrated by men doesn’t mean he orshe is a success before God. A successful life, one that pleasesGod, is that which achieves those things that God has calledthe person to do.

Thus, the first thing is to know what God has calledyou to do. There’re people that are praised in this world andacclaimed to be successful, who will eventually end up in hell.Some are already there. It doesn’t matter what anyone saysabout you, the only one who matters is the one who madeyou. He’s the one who knew the purpose for which you wereborn. So, don’t live your life to the applause of men. Jesussaid, “For“For whatwhat shallshall itit profitprofit aa man,man, ifif hehe shallshall gaingain thethe wholewholeworld,world, andand loselose hishis ownown soul?soul? OrOr whatwhat shallshall aa manman givegive ininexchangeexchange forfor hishis soul?”soul?” (Mark 8:36-37). He also said, “…for“…forthatthat whichwhich isis highlyhighly esteemedesteemed amongamong menmen isis abominationabomination ininthethe sightsight ofof God”God” (Luke 16:15).

What do you esteem in your life? What are the thingsthat are important to you? What drives you? What are youpassionate about? Until, and unless those things are the samethings that God considers important, things of Kingdom andeternal value, they’re useless. Don’t run in vain; don’t put yourefforts in the wrong things. Don’t seek to please men; do allthings with only one goal in mind: to please the Lord Jesus

For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy wordsthou shalt be condemned (Matthew 12:37).

WWords are so important in the Kingdom of God. Byyour words, you can consistently chart your

course in victory and success; you can recreate thecircumstances of your life. The very principle of salvation isbased on words. Romans 10:10 says, “For“For withwith thethe heartheart manmanbelievethbelieveth untounto righteousness;righteousness; andand withwith thethe mouthmouth confessionconfessionisis mademade untounto salvation.”salvation.”

It’s important to note the two keywords in the scriptureabove, “heart” and “mouth.” With your heart, you believe andare made right with God, but with your mouth, you confessyour way into salvation.

The Greek word for mouth is “stoma.” Stoma meansthe edge or front of a weapon. That means your mouth wasgiven to you as a weapon. It brings to mind what the Wordsays in Ephesians 6:17: “And“And taketake thethe helmethelmet ofof salvation,salvation, andandthethe swordsword ofof thethe Spirit,Spirit, whichwhich isis thethe wordword ofof GodGod .”.”

When you speak forth the Word of God, you’reapplying a weapon. For instance, if you’re attacked bysickness, don’t just talk about it, or complain to people aboutthe situation; cut it down with your mouth by speaking theWord of God that addresses the condition.

Remember, what you say comes to be. Your wordseither make or mar. Like the words of Jesus, your wordsare spirit and life. Jesus said you shall have what you say(Mark11:23). Ecclesiastes 8:4 says where the word of a kingis, there’s power, and He’s made us kings and priests untoGod (Revelations 1:6). We make decrees as kings, and we
