Stronger Country Communities Fund Boosts $1.5 Million Worth of Coolamon Shire Projects
Member for Cootamundra Steph Cooke announced more than $1.5 million in funding to give projects in the Coolamon Shire a boost through Round 2 of the NSW Government’s Stronger Country Communities Fund. The $1,540,958 announced will fund seven projects, plus an additional part-funding grant, secured through Coolamon Shire Council. The full list of projects is:
$303,483 for Ganmain Sportsground Multipurpose Facilities upgrade
$275,000 for Marrar Langtry Oval amenities upgrade
$237,260 for Healthy Communities Bike and Walking Trail Project
$210,000 for the Advance Ardlethan Museum Project
$177,132 for upgrade to useability of Kindra Park Sporting Precinct
$165,000 for Coolamon Sport & Recreation Club bowling green
refurbishment
$113,68 for Ardlethan
Recreation Reserve
facility upgrade
Upgrades to Marrar Memorial Hall and Up-To-Date Store Cultural Learning Precinct is partially funded and communication continues with the funding body to determine how and on what this money will be spent.
The $300 million Stronger Country Communities Fund is part of the NSW Government’s $1.6 billion Regional Growth Fund that is employing local tradies, putting local suppliers to work and providing the right environment to operate regional businesses.

NSW Container Deposit Scheme Under the State Government Return and Earn, most empty 150 millilitre to 3-litre drink containers are eligible for a 10-cent refund when presented to an approved NSW collection point. Container materials that may be eligible for a refund include: PET, HDPE, Glass, Aluminium, Steel and liquid paperboard.
Recently, an over-the-counter collection point has been located at the Mobil Service Station on the corner of Cowabbie and Wade Streets Coolamon. Please take advantage of the State Government initiative

accordance with Council’s “Keeping of Horses” Policy. Your yard
must be kept free from a build-up of manure, be kept free from
odour and not be overgrazed so as to cause a dust nuisance.

Love Reading - Join a Book Club The library is taking names to join a book club. A book club is for anyone who loves to read a varied selection of books and meet with others to chat about them. The Library provides ten copies of one title plus background notes and discussion questions.

Friday 14th Dec at 10.30am, theme – “Christmas”.
A small Christmas party will follow and a very special guest will be appearing. Please note story time will not be held in January.
Food for Fines The “Food for Fines” campaign has started again at the Coolamon Library. This is a great opportunity to clear all outstanding fines by donating non-perishable food in lieu of payment. All collected food will be donated to St Vincent de Paul in Coolamon. They will then distribute the food to our local families within our shire.

Coolamon Shire Council Local Roads Update
Council would like to advise motorist that heavy rehabilitation and road sealing works are to be carried out on the following Roads: · MR243 Canola Way between Ganmain and Matong – 1.6km road reconstruction
continues. · Brushwood South Road – 1.9km road reconstruction continues. · Marrarvale Lane – 1.0km gravel re-sheet commencing early December. · Smoky Bridge, Mary Gilmore Way – Bridge strengthening and new deck. Lane closures
and detours will occur during deck works, deck works commencing early December. · Resealing works will also be occurring mid December Please exercise caution, observe road signage and road conditions. Road Conditions Maintenance grading is in progress on the unsealed road network in addition to table drain maintenance and sucker clearing across the sealed road network throughout the Shire. Please exercise caution, observe road signage, road conditions and drive accordingly.
Coolamon Early Childhood Centre All children at the Centre recently
enjoyed an excursion to the Fire
Station. They took part in a tour of
the fire station, sat in the truck and
listen to the sirens. The most exciting
part was having a turn of the fire
hose!
We look forward to the Children’s
Christmas party to celebrate the
children’s progress throughout 2018, The Centre is
currently running a Monster Christmas Raffle to be drawn
at the Christmas party December 9th at 11am. Many local
businesses have donated prizes to be won. Community
members are welcome to purchase tickets from the centre,
our families and educators for $2 a ticket. If you are
interested in donating prizes please contact the centre.
The end of the year sees us say goodbye to 12 children as
they transition to Primary School. We will miss their smiling
faces and wish them all the best as they continue to grow
and learn. Positions are currently available for 2019 in our
Preschool Room. All enquires can be directed to Renae at

The next Council Meeting will be held on Thursday, 13th December 2018, Commencing at 2:00pm.
