Đóng góp của Kitô giáo cho tương lai châu Âu

Đgh. Phanxicô đã đọc một diễn văn quan trọng tại Hội nghị “Xem xét lại châu Âu. Đóng góp của Kitô giáo cho tương lai của dự phóng về châu Âu.”

Hội nghị này là cuộc đối thoại cấp cao giữa Giáo hội và các nhà hoạt động chính trị do Uỷ ban các Hội đồng Giám mục trong Liên minh châu Âu (COMECE) tổ chức tại Roma từ 27 đến 29 tháng Mười 2017.

Đức giáo hoàng nói rằng “Thật là ý nghĩa khi Hội nghị này trước hết muốn là một cuộc đối thoại trong tinh thần thảo luận tự do và cởi mở, để làm phong phú lẫn nhau và để làm sáng tỏ con đường tương lai của châuÂu, ... để vượt qua cuộc khủng hoảng mà chúng ta đang phải đối mặt và trước những thách đố đang chờ đợi chúng ta.”

Khởi đi từ hình ảnh của Thánh Bênêđictô, bổn mạng của châu Âu, Đức giáo hoàng nói: “Thánh Bênêđictô không quan tâm đến vị trí xã hội, sự giàu có hay quyền lực của một người. Ngài căn cứ vào bản tính chung của mỗi con người, vốn luôn yêu mến sự sống và muốn sống hạnh phúc, dù họ ở trong hoàn cảnh nào...Đây là một trong những giá trị cơ bản mà Kitô giáo mang lại: ý thức rằng con người được tạo dựng theo hình ảnh của Thiên Chúa. Nguyên tắc này dẫn đến việc xây dựng các tu viện, để rồi trở thành cái nôi của con người, của văn hoá, của sự phục hưng tôn giáo và kinh tế…”

Từ đó, Đức giáo hoàng nhấn mạnh đến hai đóng góp chính mà Kitô giáo cống hiến cho Châu Âu, và có thể trong tương lai nữa. Thứ nhất, “và có lẽ là sự đóng góp lớn lao nhất” của Kitô giáo đối với châu Âu là “nhắc cho châu Âu nhớ rằng châu Âu không phải là một tập hợp các con số hay các tổ chức, nhưng được làm nên từ những con người”. Tiếp theo, “nhìn nhận người khác trước hết là một con người nghĩa là đề cao điều liên kết tôi với người ấy. Sự kiện chúng ta là những con người nối kết chúng ta với người khác, làm cho chúng ta trở thành một cộng đồng. Vì thế, đóng góp thứ hai mà Kitô giáo có thể cống hiến cho tương lai của châu Âu là tái khám phá ý thức thuộc về một cộng đồng.”

“Gia đình, như cộng đoàn đầu tiên, vẫn là nơi cơ bản nhất của khám phá này. Nét đa dạng ở nơi gia đình được đề cao và đồng thời hiểu được trong sự hiệp nhất. Gia đình là sự kết hợp hài hoà những khác biệt giữa người nam và người nữ, sự kết hợp ấy càng xác thực và sâu xa hơn khi nó sinh sôi, có khả năng mở ra cho sự sống và cho người khác. Cũng vậy, một cộng đồng dân sự sẽ đầy sức sống nếu biết mở ra, nếu biết đón nhận sự đa dạng và tài năng của từng người, đồng thời nếu biết sản sinh sự sống mới, cũng như tạo ra phát triển, việc làm, đổi mới và văn hoá.” - Hdgmvietnam.org
