Dear Members; Well, as they say… time flies when you’re having fun! What a great year it’s been at Hillcrest and I’m proud to be part of this fine club. We kicked off the year with the wonderful bathroom and front area renovation followed by a plethora of ac-tivities and superb weather to keep us all busy no matter what are interests are! Kudos to all the staff at Hillcrest for making it such a great place. Mike put together lots of excellent and creative golf events throughout the sea-son with record turnouts and we’re pleased to have Jerad with us this year along with all the others. Brian and his crew kept the course in great shape and never a dull moment with Mother Nature! Thank you to Jeanette for another incredible year with the swimming program and all the fun at the pool and also to Sam for all the great events with tennis. Such a joy to work with Andy, Kim, Zach, Ryan, Allison and all, hats off to all you do, for your endless hours and for putting together great parties and top notch meals that we all so enjoy and that you make look easy! It’s been an honor and a pleasure serving as President this year. We have an out-standing and committed Board and I want to recognize and thank outgoing Board Members and Past Presidents Marlin Lyon and Jim Berg. They have been instru-mental in the success of Hillcrest over the past few years and have dedicated much time, compassion and vision for Hillcrest. Jim Berg, I will continue to work on the tree on number 11. With that, thank you all for being part of Hillcrest and I wish you all a very happy Thanksgiving and a joyous holiday season. And, whether a casual night out, a fun lunch or a holiday gathering with friends and family, come on out to Hillcrest and enjoy, anytime! Season’s Best, Julie Robinson

A Message from our Pro Shop

Dear Members;

It is always fun to look back over the year, and reflect on the fun that we all had on the

golf course. From our New Member Scramble in April to the Celebrity Invitational in

July to the Matches at Hillcrest in October and all the great holidays and golf events in

between, we have enjoyed some great times and great golf this season. Your strong sup-

port in golf is why Hillcrest is such a wonderful club!

The leaves are changing colors and some are falling, however, there are still plenty of

beautiful days of golf ahead. There is no need to put the clubs away. Take advantage of

this special time of year, and enjoy playing fall golf with friends and family at Hillcrest.

The course is in fantastic shape!

We are preparing the 2015 golf calendar. Next golf season will be here before you

know it. Here is a sneak peak. Our junior golf program will have some new team golf

offerings. The Celebrity Invitational moves to July 9-10-11. Don’t miss out! Our Ladies

Golf Association will be offering some new and exciting events. Gear up to spend an-

other fun summer at your club, and enjoy all that Hillcrest has to offer!

Best in Golf,

Mike Brown

A Message from our

Tennis Staff Page 21

Dear Members;

The consensus of everyone that I talked with this summer is that it went way too fast! Although the summer seems to be getting shorter these days, we got a lot done.

July -We had more players in the program than any other July in the last 8 years. The weather helped us with only one rain out and milder temperatures most of the year.

August and Late July-We had to get an early start on our Day camps and High school Prep camps to get both weeks in!

The Hillcrest Junior Novice had a lot of new faces. Great to see kids wanting to get some tennis tournament experience.

Junior Team Tennis- Had a great season! July 3rd we had a great time! We had a great turnout for being the day before the 4th. Players that came got to participate in three different tournaments grass court/table tennis and of course tennis. Varsity finished strong in winning the last four and going 5-1 for the summer. I really enjoyed the groups of good kids/players and saw a lot of improvement while working hard.

I would like to tell you about three middle school beginner tennis players that started taking lessons in our spring session.

They came 3 days a week for 4 weeks and by the end of that short time I felt they were all ready to have them compete with our Junior varsity tennis team. They all ended up fitting in really well and contributing for that team. These three are listed below as our most improved boy's for the June session. They helped me realize that we should have a separate class for older beginners to help encourage them to give tennis a try with kids their age. I have seen success in adults like this as well where they just start tennis at a later point in life and improve and whether they benefit from the social/competitive or physical/skill parts of tennis. I hope as we improve our tennis program I hope you give tennis a try, for tennis truly is such a great lifetime sport!

I would like to Thank all of the tennis staff for helping and making this summer be such a positive experience!

I would also like to Thank all HCC staff for working together to have a great summer!

Sincerely,

Sam Nelson
