Kannada Rajyotsava (Kannada: ಕನ್ನಡ ರಾಜ ್ಯೋತ್ಸವ;
Karnataka Formation Day; literally "Birth of
the Karnataka state") is celebrated on 1 November every year.
This was the day in 1956 when all the Kannada language-
speaking regions of South India were merged to form the
state of Karnataka.
Deepawali or Diwali is a festival of lights symbolizing the victory of righteousness and
the lifting of spiritual darkness. The word “Deepawali” refers to rows of diyas, or clay
lamps. This is one of the most popular festivals in the Hindu calendar. It is celebrated
on the 15th day of Kartika, according to the Hindu calendar. This festival
commemorates Lord Rama's return to his kingdom Ayodhya after completing his 14-
year exile.
The Goddess Lakshmi was Vishnu’s consort and she symbolizes wealth and prosperity.
She is also worshipped on Diwali. This festival is celebrated in West Bengal as "Kali
Puja", and Kali, Shiva's consort, is worshipped during Diwali. The festival of
lights,Diwali in southern India often commemorates the conquering of the Asura
Naraka, a king of Assam who imprisoned many people. It is believed that Krishna freed
the prisoners.
Kanaka Dasaru (1509–1609) was a poet, philosopher, musician and
composer from modern Karnataka. He is known for his
Kirtanes and Ugabhoga compositions in the Kannada language
for Carnatic music. Like some other Dasas, he often used colloquial
language for his compositions. He was a disciple of Vyasathirtha and a
follower of Dwaita philosophy propounded by Madhvacharya.

Once I Saw A Little Bird
Once I saw a little bird
Come hop, hop, hop.
And I cried, "Little bird,
Will you stop, stop, stop?"
I was going to the window
To say, "How do you do?"
When he shook his little tail
And away he flew.
Six Little Mice Sat Down To Spin
Six little mice sat down to spin;
Pussy passed by and she peeped in;
"What are you doing, my little men?"
"Weaving coats for gentlemen."
"Shall I come in and cut off your threads?"
"No, no, Mistress Pussy, you'd bite off our heads."
"Oh, no, I'll not; I'll help you to spin."
"That may be so, but you don't come in!"

to contribute to the promotion of physical, intellectual, social and spiritual potentialities of student's and
make them responsible members of the local national and international communities. It provides ample
opportunities for inculcating moral, social and democratic values and developing the spirit of co-
operation by encouraging participation in various scout and guide activities.

Chain Community Service: Joy of Giving
AECS has expanded the paradigm of Chain Community Services over the course of this academic year .
After the distribution of clothes and food grains or raising funds for nearby schools and organisations,
AECS took up the mission of adopting “The Government Higher Primary School” at Bingipura, Anekal
Taluk, with a vision to take up various programs aimed at improving quality of education in the school.
The first venture after the adoption was the unique concept of Mobile Library or Book mobile.
Disseminating knowledge through books in areas where people have the inclination, but no scope, is the
bookmobile or mobile library
Under this programme, we had also approached the parents to donate their old English or kannada books
for which there was a good response. We thank all the parents who donated towards this venture. There
was a huge contribution of books done by our management to make this Mobile Library Program more
effective.
Mobile Library program was executed on 28th October, 2013 which was headed by Ms Anjali, a Kannada
teacher from our school. She visited “The Government Higher Primary School” at Bingipura, along with
four students of VII and VIII grade. The students of VI , VII, VIII of the Government School were thrilled to
see variety of books . They were allowed to select the books of their own choice and read for almost 3
hours. Ms Anjali and our school students helped the readers to spell and pronounce difficult English and
Kannada words. It was a very enlightening experience for the students of both the schools.
We would like to expand such outreach programmes in the future and hope that we get the same support
from our students and parents.

Diwali is that wonderful time of the year when festivities are in the air and nip of winter
brings with it the smell of mouth watering delicacies. But along with all the celebrations
and festivities come the ear bursting noise and the thick pungent smells of crackers that
hangs in the air, days before and after Diwali.
To bring awareness among our students, discussion sessions were taken in the Grade I to V
classes. Teachers explained them about the harmful effects of burning crackers and the
students took up a pledge to celebrate an eco friendly Diwali this year by making charts.
We request all the parents to guide your children in the same way .May you all enjoy
Diwali with diyas, sweets, rangoli and gifts instead of crackers and fireworks .
