Hawaii Lawmaker Elected to Serve on National Conference of StateLegislatures Executive Committee
DENVER Last week at the National Conference of State Legislatures 2011 Legislative
Summit in San Antonio, lawmakers from around the country elected Representative Pono Chong
to serve on the 2011-2012 NCSL Executive Committee.
We are pleased to have Representative Chongs expertise on NCSLs Executive Committee,
said incoming NCSL President and Kansas state Senator Stephen Morris. His participation inNCSL over the years has been a key part of the organizations success.
The NCSL Executive Committee is the governing body of the National Conference of State
Legislatures. Comprised of 63 members, the Executive Committee drives the organization bysupervising and controlling the affairs of the Conference, its committees, and finances, as well as
deciding the organizations ultimate positions on matters of public policy.
Representative Chong has been an active member of the National Conference of State
Legislatures throughout his tenure as a state legislator. He has served on NCSLs Budget and
Revenue Committee and presently is the Vice-Chair of the Committee and the Task Force onMilitary and Veterans Affairs.
It is an honor for me to serve on NCSL's Executive Committee," said Rep. Chong. "I lookforward to working with my colleagues to help the states, and the nation, in this criticaleconomic recovery period."
