KEWAUNEE NUCLEAR POWER PLANTDOCKET 50-305LICENSE No. DPR-432003 INSERVICE INSPECTION (ISI) SUMMARY REPORT

As required by ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section Xl; Code of Federal Regulation1 OCFR50.55a; and Wisconsin Administrative Code Department of Commerce, Subchapter V:Chapter Comm. 41.55(3), various ISI examinations were performed as part of the 2003Refueling Outage. The outage took place from April 5, 2003 through May 11, 2003; i.e. closingof G1. This letter transmits the Inservice Inspection Summary Report as required by paragraphIWA-6230 of Section Xl.

Two separate ASME Section Xl inservice examination programs are implemented at the KNPP.One program is for pressure retaining piping/vessel and component supports and the otherprogram for the metal containment. The 2003 refueling outage constituted the secondinspection year of the third period of the third interval for the piping/vessel and componentsupport program. The 2003 refueling outage was also the second inspection year of the secondperiod of the first interval for the metal containment program. Examinations for the piping/vesseland component support program were performed in accordance with the ASME Boiler andPressure Vessel Code Section Xl 1989 Edition. Examinations for the metal containmentprogram were performed in accordance with the 1992 Edition up to and including the 1992Addenda of Section Xl of the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code. These requirementswere implemented in accordance with the "Kewaunee Nuclear Power Plant Third Ten-YearInservice Inspection (ISI) Program 1994-2004," "Kewaunee Nuclear Power Plant First 10-YearInservice Inspection Class MC (ISI) Program 1996-2006," Plant Technical Specifications, andnondestructive examination procedures.

Disposition of Class 1, Class 2, and Class 3 indications have been completed in accordancewith the rules of ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section Xl 1989 Edition and ASMEBoiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section Xl 1992 Edition up to and including 1992 Addenda forClass MC Components. Applicable codes, standards, and engineering criteria were used todisposition indications associated with the non-code-required examinations. 1. A 0.375" long linear indication (identified as a forging lap) on 2" socket weld RTD-W70Swas recorded during performance of liquid penetrant examinations. This LinearIndication was unacceptable per ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section Xl1989 Edition Table IWB-3514-2. The linear indication was reduced in size under workorder 03-004115 by light filing with a small file, reexamined and accepted with a 0.100"linear acceptable ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code Section Xl 1989 Edition TableIWB-3514-2 indication.

2. Visual (VT-1, VT-2, and VT-3) indications recorded on reactor vessel conoseal bolting,steam generator primary side manway bolting, piping flange bolting, valve bonnetbolting, component and piping supports and hangers during system pressure tests were:(1) evaluated and accepted, or (2) repaired, reexamined and accepted by: NuclearManagement Company, LLC; Maintenance, Quality Control, Engineering and TechnicalSupport, or Inservice Inspection Personnel and reviewed by the Authorized NuclearInservice Inspector.
