5-Axis Laser CuttingA total of four Trumpf 5-axis laser machines offering the very latest in laser cutting technology, operating 24 hours, 7 days a week, a capacity unmatched in the UK.

This provides our customers with over 430 hours of production capacity each week. We can accommodate tooling development projects to low and high volume production runs to support the automotive industry.

NSI has over 15 years experience in providing a complete 5-axis solution for our customers including utilising our off-line programming system, to our complete in house fixture and design service. Using our Faro arm we can also reverse engineer a program from a finished panel and then verify the cut panel matches your master.

Major automotive companies utilise the same 5-axis technology as NSI. These machines with the latest laser technology and split cabin production cells enable a cost effective and repeatable process, which is now becoming the industry standard for the production of body and white interior panels where high strength, low weight panels are required.

NSI is instrumental in being one of the first sub-contract companies to provide parts to OEM’s based on this process.

NSI is a market leader in the supply of laser cut complex formed sections. NSI has been supplying the yellow goods industry with laser cut formed sections for many years and we have acquired extensive knowledge in being able to process formed sections to a high degree of accuracy.

Quality is built into everything we do at NSI. We provide a full inspection service using the latest Faro arm technology. This enables us to provide our customers with 1st off inspection reports to trend analysis for process repeatability and full PPAP submission documentation to meet the project requirements.

As with our flatbed machines our 5-axis machines are also linked to our state of the art production control system.

We can monitor our production orders and make sure we meet the delivery requirements of our customers.

This ability means our delivery performance can be measured to ensure we consistently meet the high standards of excellence our customers demand. Our fleet of vehicles can deliver and collect your products as and when required, anywhere in the UK.

Tube Laser CuttingNSI Group was the first in the UK to use the Trumpf Tubematic laser machine for specialising in the process of cutting round, oval, square and rectangular tubes.

The machine is capable of taking random lengths of raw material up to 6.5 metres in length and then laser processing to your requirements.

The CNC controlled machine even works out the optimal utilisation of the material based on the size of parts required for processing, saving money and offering the most cost effective solution per length of material.

From mild steel up to 5mm thick to stainless steel and aluminium, this machine has the capability of cutting various complex shapes, cut-outs and sizes.

Using the advanced TruTops tube software we can create programs for complex parts easily and also make mitre cuts that once processed, the part can be manipulated into the correct angle ready for welding, not only improving the accuracy but also saving time and money.

The machine with its auto loading cell can process 4 tonnes of raw material at a time and is ideal for high volume mass production offering a high degree of accuracy.

With our lean manufacturing approach, high speed cutting and efficient production techniques we can offer our customers a low cost option to this specialised process.

The machine is also at home producing bespoke parts for architectural projects and product development enabling rapid processing from design to manufacture.

CNC PunchingNSI offers the best of both punching and laser cutting with our Trumpf Punch Laser combo machine, offering a truly flexible process.

With automated tool changes for punching, bending, countersinking, stamping, tapping, perforating, and with the ability to laser cut complex and non uniform shapes, this machine truly offers a one stop shop for manufacturing parts.

Less setup and operations mean efficient manufacturing with reduced part costs for the benefit of our customers.

With the ability to reposition sheets, the machine can process parts in excess of 6 metres long with high accuracy and batch repeatability.

From mild steel to coated steels, to stainless and aluminium, this machine offers the flexibility and versatility essential in today’s manufacturing sector and continues our approach of offering every manufacturing service possible to our customers.

CNC FoldingNSI has a wide range of CNC folding machines utilising the very latest technology provided by Trumpf.

Our five CNC brake press machines with independent 6 axis back stops and 320 tonnes capacity can process parts up to 4 metres in length.

From one off bends to complex multi formed parts our machines produce batch runs with high degrees of accuracy and repeatability.

Utilising our range of Trumpf software we can quickly take your 3D cad data, unfold into a developed blank for laser cutting and then fold in one quick and easy process.

This process is complemented by our Faro arm inspection equipment, which being portable can inspect 1st off parts right at the machine.

With a wide range of Trumpf tooling available we can accommodate most types of folding meaning no delay in manufacturing, which is critical in today’s modern manufacturing environment.

Welding & FabricationFrom our dedicated 55,000 Sq.ft fabrication facility we manufacture all types of fabrications and welded assemblies.

From prototypes to volume production of complex welded assemblies, we can supply manufactured parts using the latest technology and processes.

From design to manufacture our engineers provide our customers with a solution to meet their requirements. NSI has a modern fabrication facility and our commitment to lean manufacturing means our team of engineers are continuously looking to improve our processes and reduce waste and improve efficiency. This approach sets us apart from our competitors and provides our customers with the knowledge that we are always looking for complete customer satisfaction in the parts we manufacture.

We offer all surface finishes including shot blasting, pickling, plating, galvanising, wet paint finishes including pre-treatments and powder coating.

We currently supply major OEM’s with manufactured parts. From kanban, JIT, to online schedules for volume production parts, to complex one off assemblies, our advanced manufacturing control software can control and monitor all of our fabrication processes from forecasts through to contract review and final assembly and delivery.

This enables us to be flexible where required but also we can identify capacity/utilisation requirements unique to a workplace. This ability makes sure we can adapt quickly to any issues and continue to meet the delivery requirements for our products.

NSI welders can weld all types of materials from mild steel, coated steels, stainless steels and aluminium. All of our welders are accredited to the following standards, MIG and TIG BS-EN-287-1:2011

NSI offers robotic MIG welding for high volume assemblies and also has six dedicated welding cells. All of our weld cells have specialised prototype weld tables including specialised clamps which snap into positions on the tables for work-holding.

This gives our welders the ability to quickly and accurately locate and hold parts for welding without the need in most cases of expensive fixtures. This also helps to reduce setup times and make small to medium batch runs more efficient, reducing costs to our customers.

As part of our culture of continual investment in the latest technology, the NSI group have purchased the latest Faro arm inspection equipment.

Quality

This gives us the ability to provide inspection reports as stand alone items or part of a full PPAP submission.

From simple folded brackets to complex metal assemblies to 5-axis body sides, this equipment gives us the ability to quickly and accurately measure parts to nominal and verify our processes before batch production starts.

The equipment includes a laser scanner which enables us to create three dimensional surfaces from master samples, “reverse engineering”. This can then be used to laser cut or fabricate new parts which are a replica of the master sample provided.

From trend analysis over periods of time to process repeatability, this versatile and accurate equipment enables NSI to verify the quality of our manufactured products to our customers, which is an important part of our ongoing philosophy of complete customer satisfaction.

Being portable we are also able to take the equipment straight to the area where 1st off parts are being produced within our facility if required.
