Palmer Gas Ermer Oil has been serving your homes and businesses since 1932, and one of the main reasons we’re able to continue meeting our customers’ needs, season after season, is that we learn from each. Last winter was one of the most challenging in our region’s history, and it taught us a lot about what we can do to serve you better. To help ensure we’re prepared for whatever Mother Nature throws our way this winter, Palmer Gas Ermer Oil is hiring more seasonal delivery drivers for the

upcoming heating season. More drivers equals more trucks on the road at once, which means more customers served each day. This way, we’ll be able to complete our deliveries in a more timely fashion, even when we’re at our busiest!

Of course, we want our customers to be prepared for the upcoming season as well. That’s why we began offering Price Protection Programs in the spring, allowing you to lock in your savings and budget your fuel expenses ahead of time. MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

If you leave your heating system operational while your home is unoccupied for an extended period of time, your home could be at risk.

The biggest concern in this scenario is experiencing a “freeze-up” of water pipes, which can result in extensive damage to your home and your heating system. The combination of having no one consistently present to ensure that fuel is at adequate levels and to monitor temperatures and proper system operations, coupled with the potential for flooding, is a formula for disaster.

Remember that it is the owner’s responsibility to arrange for a caretaker to check on the property regularly, including inspection of the fuel supply—even if the property gets scheduled fuel deliveries. (Sporadic fuel usage in these situations makes tracking fuel consumption next to impossible for us.) It is also important to note that heating equipment can malfunction and electricity can shut off for any number of reasons, especiallywithourNewEnglandwinterconditions.

This summer we had a lot of fun working with our team to stay safe and give back to our community. In June, we had staff members bring their children on-site with homemade signs warning our drivers to keep an eye out for little ones for Driver Awareness Day. Following that, in July we hosted our annual Blood Drive with the American Red Cross. It was our most successful to date with enough donations to help save up to 66 lives!
