Dear NSU Parent Association Members, Great times are happening at NSU! The semester seems to be clicking along with new and exciting things happening every day. It appears as though the students are settling into a routine of sorts, lots of smiling faces walking across campus, lots of laughter in the residence halls, friendships being made, and lots of learning taking place in the classrooms. Cannot think of a better or more positive place to work! September will be moving along quickly. We have lots of athletic events with football and men’s and women’s soccer. The weather will begin to cool and eventually the trees will begin to change color and crispness will be in the air! This is truly the most beautiful place in the world as we move into the fall season. I hope you will make plans to come to campus for a visit; you have an official invitation from our office. I wanted to include the link for our Home- coming events, http://www.nsuok.edu/homecoming. aspx. We will be celebrating October 4-6 and would love to have you join us. Visit the site often and additional events should be added as we approach October. Please make plans now to be here. As always, if you need anything from our of- fice, please let us know. We appreciate your mem- bership and involvement. Your calls or comments are always welcome. We are partners in this venture with you and your student. Greetings from the Student Academic Success Center

Now that your first-year student is getting settled into college life at Northeastern State University, we wanted to let you know about a program called MAP-Works, or Making Achievement Possible, that will help us promote your student’s success.

What is MAP-Works?MAP-Works is a web-based survey that your student will be invited to complete during the week of September 4th. This survey includes questions related to their academic, social, and personal adjustment to college. It also provides strategies for success with customized, relevant information to help your student make the most of their college experience.

What do students get out of it?After completing the survey, students will have access to an extensive, personalized report about: » How to meet their expectations for academic success c » How to be more successful in college life » How their peers are doing in their transition to college » Campus resources available to them to help them be successful

How can you help? Please remind your student to watch for the E-mail invitation during the week of September 4th and to follow the easy steps to complete the survey: » Go to https://nsuok.map-works.com/ » Enter NSU E-mail address in the field provided and take the survey » Access a personalized report with tips on how to be successful!

We will follow-up with your student to make sure they are getting the support they need, based on their unique survey results.
