BROKEN BAY CAMP As you would all be aware we returned from school camp at Broken Bay last Friday after spending a week completing a variety of outdoor activities. Whilst the weather was quite nasty when we arrived on Sunday (including hail which stayed on the ground all through the next day) we managed to complete the week‟s activities without any interruptions. Our day group (The Dolphins) participated in beach games, orienteering, a cookout, flying fox, rock climbing, a team challenge, archery and boomerangs. Night activities included a disco, a market night and a challenge evening that commenced with all students at the centre filling out our census forms. Overall the students of Wombat Public School were an absolute credit to the school. They participated in all activities and enjoyed themselves immensely. The staff and Principals of the other schools at the centre with us were extremely impressed by our students, their manners and politeness, as were the camp staff. DONATION TO THE KITCHEN GARDEN PROGRAM BY THE HON.MICK VEITCH MLC. We were absolutely thrilled to receive in the mail a letter and cheque from The Hon. Mick Veitch MLC after his visit to the school for lunch this term. An extract from his letter is below: “It was an absolute pleasure to visit the Stephanie Alexander Garden and have lunch with the students and teachers. I was so impressed with the fantastic display of student enthusiasm for the project, both in the garden and the kitchen. In a gesture of support for your school communities‟ outstanding citizenship and valued contribution to public education in Wombat I am attaching a cheque for $600.00. I would appreciate it if these funds could be allocated to the purchase of suitable cafe-style blinds for your under-roof eating area. Thank you again for a great day!” SCHOOL ASSEMBLY This Friday there will be a school assembly commencing at 2.15pm. This is not a family fun assembly. GARDEN SHED Ken has boxed the slab for the new shed behind the kitchen and will, with all things being equal in regards to the weather, pour the concrete on Thursday. There will also be some associated tree trimming required behind the building and along the fence line to accommodate the new shed. BROKEN BAY CAMP

As you would all be aware we

returned from school camp at

Broken Bay last Friday after

spending a week completing a

variety of outdoor activities. Whilst

the weather was quite nasty when

we arrived on Sunday (including

hail which stayed on the ground all

through the next day) we managed

to complete the week‟s activities

without any interruptions.

Our day group (The Dolphins)

participated in beach games,

orienteering, a cookout, flying fox,

rock climbing, a team challenge,

archery and boomerangs. Night

activities included a disco, a market

night and a challenge evening that

commenced with all students at the

centre filling out our census forms.

Overall the students of Wombat

Public School were an absolute

credit to the school. They

participated in all activities and

enjoyed themselves immensely. The

staff and Principals of the other

schools at the centre with us were

extremely impressed by our

students, their manners and

politeness, as were the camp staff.

DONATION TO THE KITCHEN

GARDEN PROGRAM BY THE

HON.MICK VEITCH MLC.

We were absolutely thrilled to

receive in the mail a letter and

cheque from The Hon. Mick Veitch

MLC after his visit to the school for

lunch this term. An extract from his

letter is below:

“It was an absolute pleasure to visit

the Stephanie Alexander Garden and

teachers. I was so impressed with the

fantastic display of student

enthusiasm for the project, both in

the garden and the kitchen.

In a gesture of support for your

school communities‟ outstanding

citizenship and valued contribution

to public education in Wombat I am

attaching a cheque for $600.00. I

would appreciate it if these funds

could be allocated to the purchase

of suitable cafe-style blinds for your

under-roof eating area.

Thank you again for a great day!”

SCHOOL ASSEMBLY

This Friday there will be a school

assembly commencing at 2.15pm.

This is not a family fun assembly.

GARDEN SHED

Ken has boxed the slab for the new

shed behind the kitchen and will,

with all things being equal in regards

to the weather, pour the concrete

on Thursday. There will also be

some associated tree trimming

required behind the building and

along the fence line to

accommodate the new shed.

SCIS TRAINING

As part of our reorganisation of the library

both Jacqui and I will be working with Denise

Norwood in the library on Friday to learn

how to accession books and resources onto

the DEC computer. We need to be able to

manage this system within the school so that

new resources can be placed onto the system

as they arrive to allow borrowing and for

audit requirements.

At some point in the near future I would like

to seek the assistance of the parent community

to train several parents in this system as well

so that the task of “SCISing” could be shared

between Jacqui and others as it is time-

consuming and not particularly easy.

Graham Fathers will be taking Jacqui‟s place at

school on Friday so that this training can take

place.

PRINCIPAL ESSENTIAL TRAINING -

COOTAMUNDRA

I will be attending an essential training session

for principals in Cootamundra on Friday, 26th

August. As this is my office day no changes to

the school routine will be required.

OH&S VISIT

As part of the requirements for OH&S I will be

meeting with Cheryl McKee from Department

of Education and Communities on Friday, 2nd

September at school to discuss issues around

the safety of our site. We continually strive to

make the school a safe place for the students,

so if you see anything that you think is a

potential risk or hazard on your visits to the

school please do not hesitate to contact the

office.

BOOK WEEK

A big reminder our Book week Celebrations will

be held next Wednesday 24th August. Infants

students will dress up as their favourite book or

film character. Some ideas so far have included:

Where‟s Wally

Harry Potter

Princess Stories

Pippi Longstocking

Pirate Stories

Spiderman and other

Super Heroes.

The Primary students are

busily preparing their

expressive entertaining

renditions of their chosen

picture book. It should be

great fun!! We will also be

viewing some “One

World, Many Stories”

ebooks online.

Remember there

will be lots of

prizes, stickers

and balloons.

Lets celebrate

our love of

reading in

BOOK WEEK!

Just a few reminders from me this week:

AWARDS

Please ensure that all white cards and/or

commendations are given to me by Thursday

morning at the latest so that I am able to make

up any relevant awards for Friday‟s assembly.

EMERGENCY CONTACT FORMS

These were sent home two weeks ago asking

that they be returned even if there is no

changes. To date we have had less than half

returned. It is very important, in case of an

emergency, that the school has the correct

contact information on file for your child/ren.

Thank you very much to the parents/carers that

have returned their forms. If you have misplaced

the form, please see me in the office for a new

one.

KITCHEN GARDEN FEES

Term 3 fees are $20.00 for the Infants children

and $18.00 for Primary. These fees are now due.

Thank you to those that have already paid.

There are still fees outstanding from Term 2.

Reminders have been sent home for these and

it would be most appreciated if these fees could

be paid as soon as possible. Thank you.

WOOLIES AND COLES DOCKETS

I would really appreciate it if dockets could be

sent in on a regular basis as I have to enter the

16 digit code from each docket onto the website

and this can get very time consuming when

bundles of dockets are collected and sent in at

once. To date we have collected an amazing

1,112 points. Keep those dockets coming in!!

this years Father‟s Day Raffle. If you require

more tickets they are available from the office.

Please return all sold and unsold tickets to

school by the 2nd September as the raffle will be

drawn that night at the Wombat Hotel. There is

also a little prize for the family that sells the

most tickets.

P&C MEETING

Our next meeting will be held on Thursday 25th

August at 4:00pm. The agenda for this meeting

is attached to this newsletter.

Thank you
