    commissioning of 11 units of 200 MW each at variousprojects in the country.

    NTPC heralds the 500 MW era in

    the country by synchronizing its

    first 500 MW unit at Singrauli inDecember.

    Farakka Project became

    operational.

    Countrys first Combined Cycle Gas Power

    Project commissioned at Anta. Four Gas Turbines of 112 MW each and a Steam

    Turbine of 102 MW commissioned at Auraiya.

    Stage I (3 x 660 MW)

    placed in April commencing

    an era of super critical

    technology in the country

    having unit size of 660 MW.

    3rd Unit of Talcher (500 MW) Stage II

    commissioned in May.

    Agreement for Loharinagpala (4 x 150 MW) and

    Tapovan Vishnugad (4 x 130 MW) signed with

    Govt. of Uttaranchal in July.

    Ramagundam Stage II (500

    MW) commissioned in August

    in a record time of 36 months(earlier best achieved in 38

    months). With this

    Ramagundam became thelargest power station of 2600

    MW capacity in the country.

    NTPC successfully completed the IPO which

    received overwhelming response. NTPC IPO wasoversubscribed by 13.14 times.

    Diversion of river for Koldam Project achieved

    successfully in October in a record time of 26

    months

    commissioned in February. With this Talcher

    became the largest power station of 3000 MW in

    the country.
