Product Description:

Nu Stone Print is a produced from 80% chalk and 20% HDPE.

As with all Nu Stone products the blend of chalk and HDPE is initially extruded. Once transferred onto a roll the base material is then coated with a further application of chalk and HDPE on both sides. This gives Nu Stone Print its highly receptive print surface and fantastic velvet-like texture.

Available in a range of sizes from 100 mic - 200 mic it can be printed and finished easily avoiding much of the complexity associated with printing other plastics.

What is Nu Stone?

The unique Nu Stone range of products are manufactured using patented technology that makes it possible to bind HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) and Calcium Carbonate (Chalk) together to create a range of printable synthetic papers and plastics. The Nu Stone range covers a huge range of printed applications and print media.

Nu Stone Print

Nu Stone Print is primarily aimed at customers looking for a completely waterproof paper- like range of materials. It also offers a degree of toughness and resilience that will increase the life-span of any product created from it. Nu Stone Print is not tear proof but becomes increasingly difficult to tear as you step up in caliper.

Over 120 million tonnes of plastic are still sent to landfill each year much of which will then take centuries to degrade. Buying Nu Stone Print represents an opportunity to reduce this amount by 80% utilise a sustainable raw material (chalk) and avoid using dwindling natural resources such as oil, natural gas and as importantly clean water.

All this can be achieved without the usual commercial compromises associated with purchasing “green’ materials. Nu Stone Print should in fact be far more cost efffective than purchasing traditional synthetic paper

Printing and Finishing:

For simple line work Nu Stone Print can be printed using conventional offset litho inks. For large areas of solid colour work it is recommended that the printer considers using oxidising inks as they will substantially improve drying times particularly when producing two sided work. When using conventional inks with areas of dark colours it is recommended that those areas are sealed if scuffing is to be avoided.

Nuco International are happy to provide further advice when the specifics of a job are known. We can also recommend an ink manufactuer if required that has tested their inks and our products.

Nu Stone can also be printed Flexo, Screen and on Flatbed Digital printers (please test first)It is also available with a pre-coat for Indigo printing.

Nu Stone Print also folds and creases exceptional well and is therefore perfect for multi-fold work. All creases and folds will not split or crack.
