DESCRIPTION

Nuclear Weapon Deactivation by Induced Nuclear Delabilization.By C. C. Briggs.A B S T R A C TA non-source-free generalization of the relativistic, gauge-invariant, non-linear Schroedinger equation is used to show the possibility of inducing fissile-nuclide nuclear delabilization technologically, resulting in a considerable reduction of fission activity of the nuclides acted upon; sufficient reduction of fission activity of the nuclides comprising a nuclear weapon's fissile-material component destroys the nuclear-explosion capability of the weapon. Nuclear-defense systems engineered on this basis serve to destroy the nuclear-explosion capability of all weapons tracked and engaged thereby, distance and motion of the weapons notwithstanding. Subsequent detonation of any weapon affected in the manner suggested results merely in comparatively harmless break-up and dispersion of the weapon, and no nuclear explosion ensues.
