O Jesus, eternal Shepherd of souls, deign to look with mercy on your beloved ock. We join the univer-

sal church in praying for the new bishop of Rome. We ask that, anointed by Your Holy Spirit, he will

know how to lead us to the delity of your kingdom and your project of life. We ask this through the

Immaculate Virgin Mary, your gentle and Holy Mother. Oh Jesus, give us holy shepherds, give us shep-

    herds according to your heart.

    The Editor

With faith in the shepherd of shepherds, Jesus Christ, we place in your hands Februarys Nuna. As the invitatopsalm invites us each morning: Come, then, let us bow down and worship, bending the knee before the Lord, omaker, for he is our God and we are his people, the ock he shepherds.

With this condence we walk toward Easter as a people, and as a community that accompanies this people, whiseeks always to be Good News for the poorest.

    Vincenan India: all

    green with fresh and

warm blood.(Padre Zeracristos Yosief) Mom! Why can we not live onearth with humans? a lile sh

asked his mother. And she an-

    swered: My lile innocent one,

the land is not for sh, it is only for the selsh (Indian

    Saying).

From 27 January to 22 February 2013, I carried out thecanonical visitaon of the Province of South India. It isa real marvel to see both Indian Provinces ourish. In

these short lines I want to make you parcipants of myhappiness. Allow me to begin with a bit of history.

The history of our presence in the India states that, aer a persistent request by the Holy See from Propa-ganda Fidei (today the Congregaon for the Doctrineof the Faith), the Province of Madrid, Spain, with thepermission and blessing of the Superior General at thatme, had a humble beginning in India. It was the year1922.

Everything began in Odisha, in north-central India,

where they remained almost immobile for decades. The most curious thing is that the formaon of the na-ves began in India 30 years later, in 1952. Conse-quently, the rst ve Indian Vincenans were ordainedn 1962. Divine Providence, however, made them

grow and prosper, so as early as 1970, the Province ofndia was erected.

For obvious reasons of growth and organizaon, in

seeking to make the Vincenan presence in India, avery big country, more signicant, this province wasdivided in two in November 1997: the Province ofNorth India and the Province of South India. Aer thedivision (within the last 15 years), the province hasgrown by 76 confreres. And, if God so wills it, nextyear we will have another 12 new members. Amongthese, 44 confreres are between 25-35 years of age. Its a province quite green and ourishing! India is a

huge country with a populaon of 1200 million people.

I write these lines to share my happiness with all of yoI am glad because, if the Congregaon of the MissionWestern Europe and North America seems to have grhair, with visible signs of fague, aging, and diverse deases that are curving its back, in Africa, Asia, and LaAmerica it has warm and fresh blood in the veins

young confreres who assure its future.

Young people are thrilled by our charism, our vocaoand our Vincenan mission. Yes, our charism is alivacve, and present. It is challenging the hearts of maand lling them with enthusiasm to oer their youth Christ the Lord and the cause of the poor. Certainly,India things are changing lile by lile, because theare few large families as before. Most of our confrercome from small families (two or three memberSome of them are even only children, which for t

people of the East, if they do not have a very strong andeep faith, can be an existenal problem. Having tened to the vocaon story of some confreres I rmained deeply impressed.

The great majority of our confreres come from very regious and praccing families. Let us remember that dia is the mission land of Thomas, the apostle. Th

jealously preserve his mortal remains in Chennai. Bcause trees are recognized by their fruits, as Jesus say

we cannot expect any more than good, delicious, aabundant fruit from these two provinces of India bcause their Chrisan roots are good, healthy, and deeAnd the CM can count on it.

The number ofyoung confreresof the provincemoved me deep-ly: the total num-ber of confreres

is 121, of which95 are less than50 years old. It isimpressive.

Some me ago I made the visits to the Province of Holland andthe Region of Belgium, where the average age is very high. Both have been instrumental in the way of the Congregaon. They have exhausted their forces travelling this journey and

today there appears on their skin the visible sign of this weari-ness with the accumulaon of me. Seeing them today, theyseem to be moving in wheelchairs, but they bear in their his-tory the memory of being pioneers in missionary areas thatourished and became provinces, which are now part of thefuture of the Congregaon.

Today we see a Province of South India ready for the game onany terrain: at or hilly, thorny or smooth, because it has boil-ng blood. It is a blessing of God for the Congregaon of the

Mission. Yes, all these young brothers that I have come to

know in these days are the secret treasure of the whole Con-gregaon. The CM has a future!

saw confreres who edied me: men who do not think ofthemselves or their comfort, but totally dedicated and im-mersed in the mission of evangelizing the poor.

was also very happy with the life and service of our sisters, the Daughters of Charity. I had the opportunity to get to knowfour centers in which they are taking care of people with men-

tal and physical disabilies, the sick, orphans, and the elderlypoor.

The two provinces of India, as well as the Daughters of Charity, have Vincenan works indeed! With their love for Christ andtheir passion for the poor they do us honor. May the GoodGod bless the good that they are doing for the poor.

    Internal Seminary CLAPVI-South

Four seminarians: a Peruvian, a Brazilian frothe Province of Argenna, and two Ecuadoans, began the Internal Seminary CLAPVI-Sou2013-2014. The admission of the new seminaians took place on 8 January in San Sebas

Parish, Macul (Sanago, Chile). The Eucharwas presided by the Visitor of Chile, FernanMacas, and was concelebrated by the Visitof Peru, Pedro Guilln; the counselor of tProvince of Argenna, Sergio Plana; and tpresent and former Directors of the InternSeminary, Carlos Arley Cardona and Carlos la Rivera.

The previous day (7 January), in the samplace, six young men concluded this stag

making their Good Purposes: three from tProvince of Chile and three from the Provinof Argenna. Two other young men, belongito the Province of Ecuador, and who are of tsame group, made their Good Purposes in thcountry.

    Our ever-young faith

    is capable of sasfying

    the needs of all centu-

ries, as it can heal the

    wounds of all souls.

On the move toward a new light is wap-

aia ingni raya kumra (Miskito Language).

As we know, years ago the Congregaon of the Mission, withthe iniave of the Spanish confreres, began its missionaryproject in the Honduran lands (Central America). Specically,

the Province of Barcelona carries out a task of evangelizaonin the Church of its brother country of Honduras. Evangeliza-on has three important aspects: human promoon, throughdierent projects of integral development for the poor; cat-echesis and Chrisan formaon of both pastoral agents andChrisan communies; and, nally, the liturgical celebraon ofthe sacraments, aimed at an experience of faith that illumi-nates life. All this work is carried out together with otherbranches of the Vincenan Family: Daughters of Charity, MISE-VI, and JMV, among others.

Among the dierent areas of work are the Missions within theVicariate of Moskia, a missionary area which also is support-ed by other provinces, like Central America and Colombia, aswell as other branches of the Vincenan Family.

In these days this Vicariate held its V Vicarial Assembly, withthe aim of renewing faith in Jesus Christ to be disciples andmissionaries in communion, knowing it, confessing it and cele-

brang it, through a pastoral ministry rooted in the social, cul-tural, and ecclesial reality. This took place in Port Lempira on12-13 February. Pastoral agents from all areas of Moskiawere present to set out under the moo: on the move to-ward a new light (is wapaia ingni raya kumra).

It is good news for this area, which, as a Vicariate, plants theseeds that one day will become those new shoots that willconnue renewing the Church. As Church, as Vicariate, asparishes, as communies, and as persons who believe in Christ

we must help our brothers and sisters to experience a full life

    through Faith.

The assembly worked on the aspects of Community of commu-nies, missionary, Vicarial Samaritan Plan, Easter dimension, delegates directory, contribuons for the diocese, and conclu-sions. The assembly ended with a cultural night renewing tra-dional rites, dances, and drinks of the Miskita culture. Finallythe work concluded with the approval of the nal document, which will be translated into Miskito, in order that it may give

life to all the communies of Moskia.
