We hope you are all keeping safe and healthy, and hopefully adapting to a new home/work life together. Officially the next 2 weeks are the Easter Holidays. We feel it is important for families to have some down time, but also appreciate that when you are not able to get out and about that some learning activities would be helpful too! With that in mind we have outlined 4 learning activities that you may wish to do with your children over the next 2 weeks. After the Easter break we will update our learning activity grid with new ideas. Literacy / ICT Skills – retell in simple terms , an event or experience / with increasing independence, use digital devices and media with care Set aside a special time every day to share some news with a member of your family. Eg - at bedtime – talk about your favourite part of the day - or at breakfast – talk about a plan of something you could do that day – maybe with a family member etc. You could help to record it and watch it back. ( or even send it to us to go on our Nursery webpage [email protected] ) Numeracy Skill – demonstrate an awareness of the purpose of money through role play Resources needed - some pennies (1p’s) in a container or old purse , teddies/dolls , some things to sell eg books Gather some teddies or dolls together in a circle and give them some money each. Count out how much pence they have each. Who has the most / least ? Set up a shop (eg a book shop) and help each teddy to choose a book to buy. How much does the book cost ? Do they have enough money ? You could make price labels. Your family could help you to play the game.

Topic – Music/Art/Craft/Design Skills– sing a range of songs with others, make choices when choosing materials and resources Our topic after Easter will be “Down on the Farm”. Learn the songs “Old Macdonald Had a Farm” & “Ten Little Tractors”. Sing them together with your family. Make a farm picture collage using bits and pieces from the garden. Eg a tractor , pigsty , farm animal etc

Playdough Have a go at making your own play-dough. You could make some oval shaped Easter eggs or a little chick or bunny. The recipe is on the Nursery Links page.

Have Fun! Don’t forget to hard boil some eggs, decorate them and have your own easter-egg rolling competition to see which egg goes the furthest. If you don’t have a sloping outdoor area use a target like a mat, plant, ball or chalked area. See who can get their egg closest to the target?
