    RIVERMONT EPC NURSERY MINISTRYCaregiver Position Description

    POSITION INFORMATION

    Title: Nursery Caregiver

    Accountability: Reports to Nursery Supervisor

    Hours Worked: As indicated by the Nursery Supervisor

    RESPONSIBILITIES AND PRINCIPLE FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITION

    1. Serve as primary child caregiver in the assigned nursery.2. Review and maintain thorough knowledge of all Rivermont EPC nursery policies as outlined in

    the REPC Nursery Ministry Guide. Ensure that all such policies and procedures are followed.3. Provide guidance to the volunteer nursery helpers who serve throughout the sessions.4. Communicate with staff, parents, and children in a manner that builds unity within the church

    community and that provides a safe environment for nursery children.

    SPECIFIC JOB DUTIES1. Report for work at the assigned hour and ensure that the nursery is ready for children.2. Provide for the continuity of care throughout the morning, especially at transition times

    between services, as children are being brought in and dismissed at the same time.3. Attend to diaper changing, restroom care, and all other health and sanitation procedures

    outlined in the Nursery Ministry Guide. (Volunteer Helpers are not permitted to carry outdiapering or restroom care.)

    4. Personally greet all families and children entering the nursery in a warm and friendly manner,providing any necessary assistance.

    5. Notify the Nursery Supervisor if an assigned volunteer helper does not report to your nurseryroom at the designated time for each session.

    6. Provide general care for the children which includes:a. Feeding

    b. Maintaining a safe environmentc. Putting children down for restd. Holding, sitting with, and cheerfully interacting hands-on with the children by means of

    play, stories, and games.7. Should a child become upset and need their parent, use the pager system to contact the

    parent. If necessary, notify the Nursery Supervisor for assistance.8. Ensure that the nursery room is properly organized, cleaned, and sanitized prior to leaving.9. Notify the Nursery Supervisor of planned absences as soon as possible but no later than two

    weeks prior. For last-minute illness, notify the Nursery Supervisor no later than two hours prior.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION

    1. Must be at least 18 years old2. Must have a satisfactory background check and reference check clearance

    3. Must be physically able to handle children: lifting, carrying, and getting down to and up fromthe floor

    4. Preferably have appropriate experience or education in Early Childhood Development5. Should exhibit these characteristics:

    a. Love for childrenb. Understanding of the developmental needs of children and how to meet themc. Be welcoming to newcomers, parents, and childrend. Be kind, considerate, patient, servant-minded, reliable, and flexiblee. Have strong relational skillsf. Be supportive of Christian beliefs
