2021 Sydney Local Health District GradStart and Midstart programs and opportunities

University of Tasmania (UTAS) Affiliation

In 2021 we will partner with UTAS University to provide you with a unique opportunity to complete the UTAS Clinical Honours Transition to Practice qualification while working part time (32 hpw) in a Sydney Local Health District Transition to Professional Practice (GradStart) program. This 12 month Commonwealth-supported course is at minimal cost to the student.

The Clinical Honours qualification provides two units of credit towards the UTAS Specialisation – Professional Honours qualification. The Professional Honours qualification is over two years and equivalent to a first year Graduate Certificate and second year Graduate Diploma level. The Professional Honours then leads into a Master’s qualification.

This opportunity provides you with a streamlined pathway to specialisation in an area of your choice.

Research Honours program

This exciting program is an affiliation with Sydney Nursing School, The University of Sydney and provides participants with a scholarship of $10,000 over two years while they work part-time and complete their Research Honours Qualification. Completing this Honours degree enables nurses to continue into PhD without completing a Masters.

The Program was piloted in 2017 by SLHD Nursing and Midwifery in partnership with Sydney Nursing School, University of Sydney. It has been extremely successful and popular resulting in the continuation and enhancement of the program each year.
