1. BSc HONOURS IN NURSING STUDIES REGULATIONS TITLE : BSc Honours in Nursing Studies CODE 5749
2. MODE OF ATTENDANCE Full-time
3. DURATION Full-time: normally 4 years (8 semesters of study); maximum 7 Years.
4. LOCATION Saad College of Nursing and Allied Health Sciences, Al-Khobar, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia
5. ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS Applicants must:
5.1 Satisfy the college’s general entry requirements; demonstrate satisfactory performance at interview, Provide a reference of good character& Undertake a satisfactory medical examination and have appropriate immunizations
5.2 Meet the MoHE entry requirements& 5.3 An average mark of 75 % or above in the scientific stream of the General
Secondary Education Certificate Grade twelve & 70%in PET exam equivalent to band 4 in ILETS.
5.4 The date of high school certificate should not be more than five years to be accepted in the college although the College Board may do exception in some cases

6. ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS
6.1 Students are expected to attend regularly and punctually all classes and
laboratory sessions in which they are enrolled. An attendance register will be
maintained and form part of the student Developmental Assessment.
6.2 If a student is absent for any reason she must submit the reason for her
absence to Student Affairs Department in writing or with a medical
certificate within 3 days of her return to the College.
6.3 If a student is likely to have prolonged absence (4 weeks or more) for any
reason, she must inform Student Affairs Department and the Course Director
in writing and a decision will be made as to whether or not she should take
Leave of Absence. After week 4, no Leave of absence will be accepted.
6.4 Absenteeism will be followed and managed as per the College attendance policy

7. FITNESS FOR PRACTICE
Students claimed to have attendance, health &\or behavior issues affecting their academic or clinical learning which make them unfit for entry to the profession will be referred to an interdisciplinary committee for assessment& evaluation; student may or may not continuo in the program.
8. EXAMINATION AND ASSESSMENT
8.1 Students will be assessed in the courses for which they have enrolled in at the end of each semester; summative assessment will be through coursework and final examination as illustrated in the attached table.
8.2 The pass mark shall be 40% in assessment; for student to pass a module student need to pass all assessment components, if student failed to reach 40% in any assessment component student will repeat failed assessment only.
8.3 The relative weighting between coursework and examinations are as follow: Course work 60% Final exam 40%. Identified modules may have 100% weighing for one assessment component.
8.4 The Practical assessment in the courses contributes to the course overall mark as explained in the course specification. All components of the Practical assessment must be passed. The assessment of this practical learning outcomes has two key elements that students must complete successfully:
Completion of designated Clinical portfolio. Clinical Assessment Schedule. Competency Based assessment
8.5 English courses passing marks as follow: NUR 102 English passing marks is Band 5; if student fail to reach
score student will retake assessment for all skills. NUR 118 English passing marks is Band 5.5; if student fail to
reach score student will retake assessment for all skills. NUR 119 English passing mark is Band 6 in total with minimum
5.5 in each skill; if student fail to reach Band 6 score student will retake assessment of all skills, if band 6 is achieved and skills bellow 5.5 students will repeat only failed skill.
For a student to progress to level 5 she need to attain band 6 in total with minimum
5.5 in each skill.
8.6 Students will have three attempts to pass a module assessment, failure in an assessment for the third time student will be terminated from the program.
8.7 A student in a low academic standing (fails to reach a cumulative GPA more than or equal to 2.00) will be placed on academic warning by the Course Director & Head of Student Affairs with notification to the vice dean, dean and study advisor of the student.

8.8 A student on academic warning is required to consult with a faculty advisor or counsellor and may be required to take less than the normal academic load in the next semester of attendance where applicable.
8.9 A student will be considered withdrawn from the program if student remain on academic probation for three consecutive semesters without improving their cumulative GPA to 2.00 or above.
8.10 Dismissal: Any undergraduate student that is no longer in a good academic standing; receiving three academic warning letters will be subject to dismissal by the Dean of the College.
9. SUBMISSION OF COURSEWORK Course work dates will be communicated to students via the assessment
overflow in LMS in week 1.
If student didn’t attend or submit course work student will be awarded Zero mark unless student can provide supporting evidence and explanation to the course director to justify non submission or absentee.

10. CONSEQUENCES OF FAILURE • All summative assessment marks will be discussed& agreed by the Examination Board at the end of each semester. • Decision of Board of Examiners is given to students through Learning Management System (LMS) normally two working days after the meeting of each Board.
:Consequences of failure will be as follows English modules, Islam& Arabic modules are excluded from fail total credit.
First attempt
Failure in modules with an overall value up to and including 45 credit points
Student progress to next academic level e; repeat failed assessment at the next examination period
Failure in modules with an overall value of more than 45 and up to and including 60 credit points
Student will not progress to next academic level; repeat failed assessment with attendance.
Failure in modules with an overall value of more than 60 credit points
Student will be terminated from the program
Second attempt
Failure in modules with an overall value up to and including 20 credit points
Student progress to next academic level e; repeat failed assessment at the next examination period
Failure in modules with an overall value up to and including 45 credit points
Student will not progress to next academic level; repeat failed assessment with attendance.
Failure in modules with an overall value of more than 45 credit points
Student will be terminated from the program

11. Proceeding to Internship Programme Graduate Certificate in Nursing Practice
A Student must successfully pass BSc (Hons) Nursing Studies programme to proceed to Internship Programme Graduate Certificate in Nursing Practice.
For a student to graduate needs to successfully complete all BSc (Hons) Nursing Studies programme & Internship Programme Graduate Certificate in Nursing Practice.

12.1 Grade Point Average (GPA)\Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) Grade Classification:
12.1.1 Grade Point Average (GPA): The quality points for a course are calculated by multiplying the value of the letter grade by the credit hours\ points for that course. To compute the grade point average (GPA) divide the total number of quality points earned by the sum of credits attempted.
12.1.2 The Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA): The Cumulative Grade Point Average CGPA is calculated by dividing the total amount of grade points from year 1 to year 4 divided by total credit hours.

First degree honor will be granted to the student scoring a cumulative GPA from 4.75 to 5.00 upon graduation.
The second degree honor will be granted to the student scoring a cumulative GPA from 4.25 to less than 4.75 upon graduation.
12.2 Classification of Final Result (Graduate Certificate in Nursing Practice\ Internship):
12.2.1 The clinical assessment in practice learning experience modules are graded
Pass/Fail. All components of the clinical assessment must be passed to gain an
overall pass.
12.2.2 The module Consolidating Learning for Professional Registration (inclusive of
Capstone Practice Learning Experience) is the contributing module to the final
grade; shall be assessed using a written assignment. All modules are at
academic level 6.
12.2.3 The overall pass mark for the theoretical component of the module Consolidating
Learning for Professional Registration (inclusive of Capstone Practice Learning
Experience) is 40%.

12.2.4 The following shall be used to determine the final grade:

13. ILLNESS AND OTHER EXTENUATING CIRCUMSTANCES
If a student is prevented by illness or other extenuating cause from completing the whole or part of the course assessment during the programme, student will be permitted to repeat failed assessment as first attempt in the next examination period providing that this don’t contradict with other rules governing student progress.
14. Deferment of Assessment
Students can defer first sit assessment to the Supplementary Examination period in the summer. This is done through Examination Office were the student needs to complete a form in which the student confirms that she wish to defer the first sitting assessment.

15. REVISIONS TO REGULATIONS
These regulations may be revised during the student’s period of registration in accordance with procedures approved by Ministry of Education.
