What is an eel?

• An eel is a sea creature that’s shaped like a snake. There are many different kinds of eels. Some eels can be bad and some eels maybe not.

What Do Eels Eat?

• Eels eat sea creatures such as shrimp, crabs and many others. To catch their prey they bite them their prey. Eels also eats seaweed. The picture is an eel eating a shrimp.

Who Eats an Eel?

• As you can see people eat eels. It’s because of eel sushi. Also very big fish like sharks eat them .Otters also eat eels. Also a grey heron eats an eel. The picture is a Puffin eating an eel.

Where Do Eels Live?

• Eels live in underwater caves. Many live in the coral reef. One reason they live in underwater caves is because if their prey is near they just pop out and eat them. Eels also live in the ocean bottom so they can look like seaweed.

The Electric Eel

• The electric eel is a powerful eel because of of its electric shocks. To catch their prey they shock them. You can find electric eels in South America like The Amazon River Basin and The Orinoco River. They also live in muddy creeks and marshlands. Some eels also live in the freshwater.

Moray Eels

• A moray eel is an eel that is 8 inches long. This eel catches its prey with its mouth.
