Chairmans Spotlet me know, it should happen more often I think.
Thanks to Ben for coming over and talking about his
various trips into the MT?s Evans and Whitcomb areas
and to Jude my wife for making a great supper.
July will be a Nelson meet as usual. See the
newsletter for details and for September watch this
space as well!
Instruction BSCC
On Friday I will sadly be cancelling this year?s BSCC
due to lack of interest. I am not sure why there is less
interest this year but would be interested to hear
people?s thoughts.
The Snow 2 course at Temple basin will be going
ahead. We have only 3 spaces left. I would like to see
as many N/M section people getting the opportunity
but I will eventually open it up to other sections if I
can?t f il l the spaces locally. This course is of a 5 day
duration learning technical mountaineering skil ls in a
great setting. We have engaged one of New Zealand?s
top guides who also has a real enthusiasm for
mentoring amateur climbing plus at $500.00 its great
value. Anyone interested email me for an information
pack.
AGM
A reminder our AGM is in August.
So it?s time to consider the election of off icers. Your
current committee has served you well over the past
12 months. It?s important that your committee feels
supported with continuing wider member interest so
why not think about doing a turn on the committee. I
promise the time commitment is not that great and
who knows, you might even enjoy the experience and
we are always interested to hear fresh ideas from the
activists among you.
That?s enough from me So enjoy the rest of the
winter and I hope to see some of you out in the hil ls.
Cheers JW
Hi Everyone Looks like winter might f inally arrive
with another southerly f l ick up the east coast. It would
be nice to get a run of frosts and maybe getting some
ice to form up properly.
Your committee has met several t ime since Banff. The
f inal Banff returns are now in with a clear surplus after
costs of nearly $6000.00, so thanks to Phil and his
team of volunteers for making for another success.
Ticket sales over the past years have gone so well we
are contemplating putting on 2 screenings next year,
each session with a dif ferent program.
I must mention again the excellent support we get
from the local outdoor businesses Torpedo7, Sterling
Sports Richmond Mall and Sterling Sports Motueka, who
give their t ime will ingly to sell t ickets on our behalf to
which we are very grateful.
The committee at the last meeting resolved to
return back to National off ice (NO) $3000.00 ( to club
development fund ) which is on top of a $ 5000.00
grant we made in March of this year tagged as a
contribution to the website redevelopment and to
Unwin Hut debt servicing.
Speaking of the new website it is due very soon to
be released so watch this space for an announcement
from NO. I?m no techno expert but Sam the clubs GM is
certain users will f ind doing business and contacting
the clubs many services will be very user friendly.
Sections will even have the ability to design their own
pages. So hopefully the many wasted and frustrating
hours spent by the paid staff maintaining the old
system can be put to more productive use.
I must also mention we donated on your behalf
$700.00 to the Nelson Rescue Helicopter trust.
Section evening
I hosted a Marlborough evening in June. It was good
to meet a few Marlborough members who rarely get
an opportunity to catch up this side of the hil l and if
any of them would be keen to host an evening again

Guidebook Recall - Nth and Sth Island Rock Deluxe, Castle Hill and Wanaka guidebooks
Spectrum Print have issued a recall of four recently published climbing guidebooks. A production issue that resulted in some of those books having poor binding quality has been identif ied. Three NZAC guidebooks have been affected: Rock Deluxe North, Wanaka Rock(2014) and Rock Deluxe (South Island, 2015); as well as the recent new edition of The Comprehensive Castle Hill Climbing Guide.
If you have purchased any of these four guidebooks, either online or from a retailer, please return the front cover page to: NZAC, PO Box 786, Christchurch 8140. Please enclose details of where the guidebook was purchased, your name, email and a courier address that we can send your replacement copy to.
All the guides are expected to be reprinted during April with replacements going out as soon as possible after that. We sincerely apologise for the disruption this has caused and hope that you will bear with us while we work through this issue. Thank you.
