PRESIDENT'S MESSAGEDear Members

We are all passing through an extremely difficult phase of our lives. No one ever anticipated this situation. Who could even imagine that the whole humanity would be brought to its knees by a tiny little nanoscopic virus!

We in India are still waiting with a baited breath and watching an upcoming tsunami. Different opinions are coming from different epidemiologists regarding what is going to happen in India. However, life must go on. This standstill is having a major impact on the physical, mental and economic health of all of us.

I still feel that we need to thank God for whatever we have got. We, the members of the Urological community, are amongst the most privileged sections of the society. We are highly educated. As surgical specialists we are well oriented towards infection control practices. We are multi-talented because as part of our training we have handled open surgery, endoscopic surgery, per-cutaneous surgery, laparoscopic surgery, robotic surgery, microscopic surgery etc. Financially also we are reasonably fine, especially when we look at the plight of millions of people in our country. As always, we have to continue to play our roles as leaders in the areas where we belong. We owe it to our society and we owe it to ourselves. We are as good as our work.

Although we need to and we should work for the sake of our society, but there is a catch. First and foremost, each one has to be in a position of capability to serve the society. Each one must stay safe, physically healthy and mentally strong. I wish all the best to everyone.

The executive council decisions regarding the academic and social activities of our society are covered in detail in the remaining sections of this newsletter.

Long live our society!!

Dr Amlesh Seth.President, NZUSI
