We are continually touched by those who have reached out and supported Hills of Rest Memorial Park over the years. Although these gifts have taken many forms from volunteer labor to donated trees to monetary gifts, the circumstances are different for each. Take Rich Elmen for example. Rich has loved ones interred here and has visited the park throughout the seasons especially enjoying the animal life. “I really was drawn to Jak,” Rich says. Jak the Wonderdog was a friendly, energetic face at Hills of Rest for years, chasing around our eighty-eight acre park from sunup to sundown keeping the Canadian geese at bay. Oblivious to danger, Jak often got too close to some of our equipment and one dark day, was accidentally backed over. The cost of hip surgery was expensive. Because we knew of Rich’s affection for Jak, he was asked if he might be willing to pay for the surgery. “Of course I was,” Rich emphatically replied. “I was so glad that Phil Schmitz reached out to me. I felt that paying for Jak’s surgery was perfect use for the Elmen Foundation’s money, and I am happy to know that our gift was able to give him so many more years of life.” Jak’ successor, Spot, now follows in Jak’s paw prints, and is doing a fine job continuing his legacy. In a similar way, other gifts like the one given by Rich Elmen, allow us to carry on in offering a place of beauty and peace for the thousands buried at Hills of Rest. If you would like to join us in support of our mission, anonymous or named donations are welcome. Marking unmarked graves, new restrooms in the mausoleum, helping to plant trees and other landscaping are just a few ways you can get involved. Remember all donations made to the Hills of Rest Foundation are tax deductible. We are continually touched by those who have reached

out and supported Hills of Rest Memorial Park over the

years.

Although these gifts have taken many forms from

volunteer labor to donated trees to monetary gifts, the

circumstances are different for each. Take Rich Elmen

for example. Rich has loved ones interred here and has

visited the park throughout the seasons especially

enjoying the animal life.

“I really was drawn to Jak,” Rich says.

Jak the Wonderdog was a friendly, energetic face at

Hills of Rest for years, chasing around our eighty-eight

acre park from sunup to sundown keeping the

Canadian geese at bay. Oblivious to danger, Jak often

got too close to some of our equipment and one dark

day, was accidentally

backed over.

The cost of hip surgery was

expensive. Because we

knew of Rich’s affection for

Jak, he was asked if he

might be willing to pay for

the surgery. “Of course I

was,” Rich emphatically

replied. “I was so glad that

Phil Schmitz reached out to

me. I felt that paying for

Jak’s surgery was perfect

use for the Elmen

Foundation’s money, and I

am happy to know that our

gift was able to give him so

many more years of life.”

Jak’ successor, Spot, now

follows in Jak’s paw prints,

and is doing a fine job

continuing his legacy. In a

similar way, other gifts like

the one given by Rich

Elmen, allow us to carry on

in offering a place of beauty

and peace for the thousands buried at Hills of Rest.

If you would like to join us in support of our mission, anonymous or named

donations are welcome. Marking unmarked graves, new restrooms in the

mausoleum, helping to plant trees and other landscaping are just a few

ways you can get involved. Remember all donations

made to the Hills of Rest Foundation are tax deductible.
