Myrtle’s Message

Neighborhood Revitalization Day | Encanto Community

April 16th at 10:30 a.m. Encanto Recreation Center

If you’ve been subscribing to my weekly update, you know

that I’m serious about cleaning up our neighborhoods and communities. I’ve hosted Neighborhood Revitalization Days in

Emerald Hills, Skyline, Bay Terraces, and Webster Communities. We’ve been working hard to eliminate graffiti,

pot holes, debris, and other unsightly conditions. We’re identifying quality of life issues that must be addressed to make the Fourth Council District a clean place to live and raise our

families. Next up is the Encanto Community. On April 16th at 10:30 a.m., we will showcase

our efforts and highlight this important work. We will have a press conference at the Encanto Recreation Center prior to touring a specific clean-up route. I want to thank City staff, the

Community Planning Groups, and the many residents who have worked with me to revitalize our communities.

Infrastructure Improvements | Holly Drive Improvements Project Groundbreaking Ceremony

The Groundbreaking Ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, April 30th at 11:30 a.m. The

staging area will be at the corner of Holly Drive and Willie James Jones. Holly Drive is a two

lane residential street in desperate need of infrastructure improvements. This project proposes

to widen the roadway to accommodate on-street parking on both sides of the street and install

new curbs, sidewalks, new drainage improvements, trees and speed bumps to encourage

drivers to slow down. An asphalt concrete overlay is proposed to improve the driving surface.

After the completion of the project, the roadway will meet current City standards for a typical

residential roadway with improved pedestrian access, reduced vehicular speeds, improved

driving surface, and enhanced parkway with street trees. We are getting things done for

you!

Thank you Councilmember Cole

“Good afternoon Councilwoman Cole, I would like to start off by saying thank you for the assistance you

and your office provided me! I was cited by Fire-Rescue Department Brush Management. I called your

office because I felt I was being unfairly cited. I also informed your office that it was going to be a

financial burden to have the tree trimmed to bring it up to compliance. Your office referred me to

Connecting Hope. Connecting Hope came out and exceeded my expectations in not only trimming the

tree in my back yard but also trimming the tree in my front yard. They did an excellent job in cleaning

and hauling away everything. I passed the follow-up inspection. Again thank you Councilwoman Cole for

all of your assistance.” - Milton M. Johnson
