1.0. PREAMBLE

1.1. Introduction

This two year syllabus is designed to put greater em-phasisontheunderstanding,applicationofchemistryconcepts and principles in an environmental friendly and sustainable manner. It makes learners identify and solve problemspracticallyinascientificmanner.TheForm3and4Chemistrysyllabusisinclusivelymadetocaterforall categories of learners in an increasingly technological world.

1.2. Rationale

Chemistryplaysanimportantroleinthetechnologicaldevelopment of any country since it is embedded in ev-erydaylife.ThestudyofChemistryenableslearnerstobecreativeandinnovativeinsociety,promotingtheapplica-tionofChemistryinindustrialprocessesforvalueaddi-tion,beneficiationofnaturalresourcesandharnessingofavailable opportunities for entrepreneurship.

TheChemistrysyllabusenableslearnerstodevelopthefollowing skills:

8.1 ASSESSMENT OBJECTIVESTheschemeofassessmentisgroundedintheprincipleofinclusivityandequalisationofopportunitieshencedoesnotcondone direct or indirect discrimination of learners.
