A GIFT TO DEMENTIA

WILL SAVE AUSTRALIA

2

Each week around 1800 people develop dementia in Australia and every three seconds someone in the world develops dementia.

Dementia is now the leading cause of death in women in Australia and the second-leading cause of death overall. This is a national tragedy, and one that is likely to get worse before it gets better.

Your generosity would mean support for more people living with dementia and their families, as well as increased investment in research to help diagnose sooner, look for effective treatments, and one day find a cure or a way to prevent dementia altogether.“Dementia Australia have been a lifeline through

the services they offer and the relationships we’ve formed through them.” – Jenny

A FUTURE WHERE EVERYONE WHO NEEDS SUPPORT RECEIVES IT

L iving with dementia can be lonely and confusing. Our counselling and information services are there to provide support,

information and advice by telephone or in person so people can enjoy the best possible quality of life.

Our Living with Dementia program is an early intervention program for people living with early stage dementia or their family carers.

To raise awareness of dementia in the wider community, we run information and education services, highlighting the importance of brain health and other social factors that can reduce the risk of dementia and delay its onset.

“ The brochures I got from Dementia Australia gave me different ways to manage Mum’s dementia that made things a lot easier.” – Virginia

A FUTURE WITHOUT

DEMENTIA

L eaving a gift in your Will to Dementia Australia is a wonderful, lasting way to enhance the lives of those living with

dementia and help create a future where it no longer exists.

Gifts in Wills help fund crucial medical and social research that will help diagnose dementia earlier, discover better treatments, as well as find more effective ways to support the growing number of people living with dementia including families and carers.

As demand for our services increases, we must be equipped with the necessary resources to meet this increased need.

“Dementia is not impossible to deal with. The person is still there and you can connect with them and bring them joy.” – Shaun

MAKING A DIFFERENCE

Making a Will and leaving a legacy is a very personal decision. A Will ensures your personal wishes will be honoured. It is also

the first step in supporting the people you love and the causes you care about.

Ideally you should consult a legal advisor, such as a solicitor or trustee, to ensure your Will is subject to the laws in Australia.

After providing for your family, please consider leaving a gift to Dementia Australia.

The best way to help is to leave your gift to Dementia Australia ‘for its general purposes’. This allows us to apply your funds where there is the most urgent need at the time.
