Preparing for winter cancellations
Although it has been a mild winter so far, you never know when the next big storm is going to blow in that threatens to cancel school. When that storm arrives, make sure that you are getting the proper information.
If school is cancelled, the district office will send out phone and email messages over the BlackboardConnect system. We will be using the numbers and email ad-dresses that you gave us at registration. If one of those has changed, you will need to contact OHS, 354-2358, and correct it.
You are also encouraged to tune in to the local radio and TV newscasts for updates.

* With the uncertainty of the state budget, it might be in a student’s best inter-est to apply for college financial aid as soon as possible. Senior parents should be aware that you are allowed to use estimates if your taxes aren’t complete. We have scheduled a FAFSA Completion Night on February 10 from 6-7 p.m. in the Computer Lab. ISAC Representatives will be available to help parents/students complete their online financial aid applications.
* The state has no plans at this time to offer the ACT to all juniors as has been done in the past. Students planning to take the test will need to register on their own. Registration for the next national ACT testing is Friday, January 8. Avoid late fees by registering today at www.actstudent.org. Fee waivers for qualifying students are available in the guidance office.
*All freshmen and sophomores will be taking MAP achievement tests in Janu-ary. Scores from the reading portion of these tests are used to select students for Honors English classes their junior and senior years.
