On Sunday, two Craighead teams competed in the Hillary Challenge 6 Hour Adventure Race, held in Geraldine. Team 1 included Sarah Templeton, Ashleigh Meyer, Georgie Dickson, and Amalia Rowley; Team 2 included

Phoebe Trolove, Sarah Dunbar, Harriet Grace, and Meghan Templeton. Both our teams joined with Timaru Boys' High School students to make mixed teams. Team 1 finished with a finals placing, qualifying them to compete in the 5 Day Hillary Challenge at Mount Tongariro next year!

The team-work throughout the day was exceptional, and all students represented both schools admirably. The day began at Peel Forest with a muddy run through swamp and forest, before mountain biking to Geraldine, completing mystery challenges (including high ropes) and a rogaine course, and included free food and spot prizes! Year 9-10 students interested in the Junior Get2Go Challenge, to be held in September, should see Mrs Joanne Grace for details.

Well done to all those students who competed in the Craighead Cross Country, held at West End Park on Thursday 25 May. Conditions were ideal for running, with a mild, sunny afternoon and firm ground. To start the

afternoon, competitive races were held in the three grades, with some excellent running and close finishes. Congratulations to the following place getters, especially Phoebe Trolove who set a new record in the Senior event:

Year 7-8: 1st—Alex Black, 6:46 Year 9-10: 1st—Amanda Shallard, 9:34 Year 11-13: 1st—Phoebe Trolove, 12:16 (NEW RECORD) 2nd—Celina Saeki, 6:56 2nd—Alice Ritchie, 10:11 2nd—Ashleigh Meyer, 13:04 3rd—Kate Mackenzie, 7:01 3rd—Lucy Tregenza, 10:23 3rd—Tayla Marr, 14:06

Competitive House Points: 1st—Te Hau-a-uru, 452 2nd—Te Raki, 423 3rd—Te Rawhiti, 406 4th—Tonga, 296

It was fantastic to then see the whole School (students and staff!) take part in the Fun Run/Walk around the field dressed in their House colours with much fun had by all! Huge thanks to Sophie Balchin (below right) who organised and ran our new-look format.

Fun Run/Walk: 1st—Tonga, 679 2nd—Te Raki, 632 3rd—Te Rawhiti, 555 4th—Te Hau-a-uru, 537
