    Oats Breakfast Ingredients:

    Quaker Oats 1/2 cup (or White Oats)

    Milk 1-1/2 to 2 cups

    Sugar 1 Tbsp

    Walnuts 7-8

    Fig or Anjeer or Anjoor 1-2

    Dates or Kajoor 2

    Apple 1/2

    Banana 1 small sized (Optional)

    Time to Make: 10 min

    How To Prepare:

    1. Cut all the dry fruits like Walnuts, Fig and Dates into small pieces. Cut the fresh fruits you want to

    go with Oats like Apple, Banana, Chikoo etc. into cubed sized pieces.

    2. Cook the Oats with 1 cup of Milk and Sugar in a microwave for about 2-3 minutes or cook them in

    a vessel for about 5 minutes.

    3. Transfer the above cooked Oats with Milk to a serving bowl. Leave the mixture to cool for 2-3

    minutes.

    4. Now add all the cut Fruits, Dry fruits and remaining Milk to the serving bowl with cooked Oats. Mix

    all the ingredients well.

    Now your fresh healthy Oats breakfast is ready to savoured.

    Health Notes:

    Oatmeals can contain Wheat, Barley and Corn. Oats have lots of fiber content and is high in

    Protein and Iron. I hear that it has very low or zero cholesterol, zero fatty acid and is heart friendly.

    Dry fruits like Walnuts promote good cholesterol, have lots of Proteins and unsaturated fat.

    Dried Figs are highly nutritious and contains high calories, but it helps to fight anemia and protect

    against cancer.

    Dates are high in Sugar but have no cholesterol and they are high in dietary fiber too.

    Oats Upma Ingredients:

    Oats 1 Cup (e.g., Quaker Oats)

    Finely Chopped Onion 1

    Chopped Green Chillies 1

    Oil 1 and 1/2 tsp

    Mustard Seeds 1/2 tsp

    Urad Dal or Split Black Bean (Gram) / White Lentils 1/2 tsp

    Curry Leaves

    Turmeric Powder 1/4 tsp

    Sugar 1/4 tsp

    Lemon Juice 1 tsp

    Coriander Leaves / Cilantro

    Salt

    Time to Prepare: 15 min

    How to Make Oats Upma :

    1. Heat Oil in pan, add Mustard Seeds, once the Mustard Seeds splutter, add Urad Dal (White Lentils)

    and fry until they turn golden brown.

    2. Now add Curry Leaves and chopped Green Chillies and fry for a minute. Then add chopped Onions

    and Turmeric Powder and fry until the Onions start to look a little transparent.

    3. Add Salt and Sugar to the the above mixture and fry for a minute.

    4. At this stage, add Oats to the pan and fry for 2-3 minutes or till you smell a nice aroma and Oats turn

    light brown in color.

    Oats Upma

    5. Now sprinkle about 1/2 to 3/4 cup of water to the above fried Oats mixture in the pan and mix well all

    the ingredients with a spatulla and fry till the Oats turn soft. Make sure to not add excess water to the

    Oats Upma as the whole mixture can become too soggy and Oats Upma may not taste as good as it

    should.

    6. Add Lemon Juice to the Oats Upma and mix well. Garnish with Coriander Leaves / Cilantro.

    Now Oats Upma is ready to serve. You can prepare Oats Upma for breakfast or this Oats dish can make

    a great evening snack too.

    Garlic Roti ( Weight Loss After Pregnancy )

    Garlic roti, rich in calcium, iron and fibre, the jowar-bajra duo in these rotis is easy to digest.

    Flavoured with fresh garlic, cook these rotis on non-stick tawa to reduce usage of oil and minimize the

    calorie count.

    Add your private note

    Preparation Time: 10 mins

    Cooking Time: 15 mins

    Makes 4 rotis

    Ingredients

    1/4 cup jowar (white millet)flour

    1/4 cup bajra (black millet) flour

    1/4 cup whole wheat flour ( gehun ka atta )

    1/4 cup quick cooking rolled oats

    2 tbsp finely

    chopped fresh green garlic ( hara lehsun )

    1/2 tsp chilli powder

    salt to taste

    1/4 tsp oil for kneading and greasing

    1 tsp oil for cooking

    Method

    1. Combine all the ingredients, except the oil, in a bowl and knead into a soft dough, using enough warm

    water.

    2. Cover the dough with a wet muslin cloth and keep aside for 5 minutes.

    3. Knead again using 1/8 tsp of oil till smooth and divide the dough into 4 equal portions.

    4. Roll out each portion of the dough into a 125 mm. (5") diameter circle between two greased sheets of

    plastic.

    5. Heat a non-stick tava (griddle) and cook each roti, using tsp of oil, till light brown spots appear on

    both sides. Serve hot.

    Oatmeal Raisin SquaresPrint recipe

    This is a very simple yet delicious recipe. This comforting cake has a moist and dense texture with a slighthint of chocolate. Perfect with tea on a cold winter afternoon, or as a summer hiking snack. Enjoy the edgepieces with their slightly crisp sides. Yields about 25 2x2" squares.Health:

    Ingredients

    1 cup rolled oats

    1 cup brown sugar

    1 cup honey

    cup butter

    2 eggs

    1 cup flour

    1 teaspoon baking soda

    1 tablespoon cocoa 2 cups raisins (or 8 oz chocolate chips)

    cups coarsely chopped walnuts (optional)

    1 cup boiling water

    Directions

    1. Mix all ingredients together

    2. Smooth out into a shallow sheet pan

    3. Bake at 350 F for between 40 and 60 minutes

    4. Slice into squares while warm, then refridgerate

    Another very simple recipe but with incredibly tasty results. These cookies come out nutty, chewy and with acrisp underside that will have you coming back for more! Yields about 15-20 small, yet highly efficientcookies.

    Health:Taste:

    Ingredients

    1 cup rolled oats 6 tablespoons tahini (sesame paste)

    cup sunflower seed kernels

    cup honey

    cup sultanas (optional)

    cup dried chopped pitted cherries (optional)

    Directions

    1. Blend together well the tahini and honey

    2. Toast sunflower kernels until slightly brown

    3. Stir toasted sunflower kernels and oats into honey/tahini

    4. Drop tablespoon-sized blobs of mixture onto oiled sheet pan

    5. Bake at 350 F for 10 minutes or until edges are brown

    6. Let cool on baking sheet pan several minutes

    7. Carefully remove to a cooling rack

    8. The cookies will stick to the sheet pan pan if allowed to cool for too long. If that happens heat the pan a

    little in the oven before removing cookies

    These tasty little cookies have everything you are looking for in a cookie. They are irresistable, toasty,nutty, tender yet chewy, with flavors that blend admirably together. Yields about 20 cookies.

    cup rolled oats

    cup butter

    cup brown sugar, packed, or sucanat

    1 egg, beaten

    1 teaspoons vanilla essence

    teaspoon salt

    1 cup whole wheat flour

    teaspoon baking powder

    cup toasted wheat germ

    cup raisins

    cup chopped coconut

    cup toasted sunflower seeds or chopped walnuts

    1 tablespoon canola oil

    Directions

    1. Preheat oven to 375 F

    2. Cream butter and sugar til fluffy and add vanilla, egg, salt, canola oil and beat well

    3. Stir flour, baking powder, wheat germ, raisins and oats together

    4. Blend all ingredients, adding a tablespoon or more of water as needed to hold the mixture together

    5. Put tablespoons of the mixture onto a greased cookie sheet, and slightly flatten the dollops

    6. Bake 12-15 minutes

    1 cup 1% milk

    1 tablespoon butter

    cup one-minute instant oats

    2 ounces lite cream cheese

    cup brown sugar

    teaspoon nutmeg

    teaspoon cinnamon

    3 eggs separated

    cup raisins

    Directions

    1. Preheat oven to 350 F

    2. Lightly grease a quart souffle dish

    3. Heat milk and butter to near boiling

    4. Add in instant oats and stir & cook about 1 minute until thick

    5. Remove from heat and mix in cream cheese, sugar, nutmeg, cinammon and salt and stir to blend

    6. Add egg yolks in and stir well

    7. Mix in raisins

    8. Beat egg whites until stiff but moist

    9. Gently fold into mixture until no large lumps of white appear

    10.Pour into souffle dish and bake in center of oven for 40-45 minutes until set

    11. Serve with cream poured over

    This is a traditional oatmeal cookie recipe which taste reasonably good and with a nice texture. Given theshortening and sugar content these get a low health rating so you might want to try out the other cookierecipes listed here instead.

    1 cup firmly packed brown sugar

    cup vegetable shortening

    cup granulated sugar

    1 egg

    cup water

    1 teaspoon vanilla essence

    1 cup white flour

    1 teaspoon salt

    teaspoon soda

    Directions

    1. Cream together shortening and sugars

    2. Beat in egg, water and vanilla essence

    3. Combine the oats, flour, flour and soda together and mix with the sugar-shortening mixture

    4. Drop by rounded teaspoonsful onto a greased cookie sheet and bake at 350 F preheated oven for 12-15

    minutes

    5. Cool completely on racks and don't eat too many!

    cup vegetable shortening

    1 egg

    1 tbsp water

    cup white flour

    teaspoon salt

    teaspoon soda

    6 oz chocolate chips

    Directions

    1. Cream together shortening and sugars

    2. Beat in egg, water and vanilla essence

    3. Mix briefly

    4. Mix flour, salt and soda together then add to mixture

    5. Mix briefly6. Add oats

    7. Mix briefly

    8. Stir in chocolate chips

    9. Drop by teaspoons or tbsp's onto cookie sheet and bake at 375 F preheated oven for 10-12 minutes. The

    brief mixing stages prevent a giant stiff ball of dough from forming before you get a chance to put the chocchips in.

    A very simple and healthy recipe, Oatmaster Muesli is an excellent way to start the day. This recipe makesenough for about 15 servings. Store the muesli in the fridge to best preserve the nutty fresh flavour.

    Ingredients

    8 cups of rolled oats

    2 cups lightly crushed walnut halves

    1 cup sunflower seeds

    2 cups lightly crushed whole hazelnuts

    cup flax seeds

    1 cup sliced almonds

    1 cup sesame seeds

    1 cup raisins

    1 cup sultanas

    Directions

    1. Mix all ingredients except the dried fruit into baking dishes

    2. Bake at 300 F for 15 minutes

    3. Stir and continue baking for 10 minutes

    4. Repeat step 3 four or five times or until oats have browned slightly. Its easy to burn or overcook it resulting

    in a slightly bitter flavour. The oats only need to brown a little

    5. Allow muesli to cool, then mix in dried fruit

    This not-too-sweet perfect morning treat has a great nutty flavor that will wake you right up and prepareyou well for the day. The coconut adds a perfect chewability dimension and texture which leaves you comingback for more. Recipe makes about 6 cups.

    3 cups of rolled oats

    1 cups unsweetened coconut flakes

    cup toasted wheat germ

    1 cup sunflower seeds

    cup sesame seeds

    cup honey

    cup canola oil

    1 cup slivered, blanched almonds

    cup cold water

    cup raisins

    Directions

    1. Preheat oven to 250 F

    2. Mix together rolled oats, coconut, wheat germ, sunflower seeds and sesame seeds

    3. Combine honey and oil and add to ingredients, stirring until well mixed

    4. Gradually add the cold water until mixture is crumbly

    5. Put mixture into large shallow baking pan and spread evenly to edges

    6. Bake on middle rack of oven for 2 hours stirring every 15 minutes

    7. Add the slivered almonds and continue baking for half an hour longer, until mixture is thoroughly dry andlight brown in color. It should feel crisp to the touch

    8. Remove from oven and mix in raisins. Stores well in cool dry, place

    Bread Recipes

    Whilst oats on their own don't contain the gluten required for bread making, they can be used to give

    breads a delicious nutty flavour. The natural preservatives in oat flour also help to preserve the shelf life of

    breads made with it.
