Developmental background.

o The Clarks hotel was the very first property RaiBahadur M.S. Oberoi acquired in 1934. It ownsand runs thirty five luxury and first classinternational hotels in seven countries.

o In 1938 Rai Bahadur M.S. Oberoi signed a leaseto take over operations of a 500 room hotel inkolkata called a Grand hotel.

o Rai Bahadur M.S. Oberoi became famous hotelier

in 1941.o In 1959, The Oberoi Group became the first

group to start flight catering operations in India.

o Rai Bahadur M.S. Oberoi started with an agreement with aninternationally renowned hotel chain and was the first one todo so in 1965.

The Oberoi Intercontinental in Delhi became the first 5 star

international hotel in the country.o Oberoi Centre of Learning and Development (OCLD) was the

learning center started by Rai Bahadur M.S. Oberoi in 1966.

o A 35 storey Oberoi Sheraton in Mumbai was inograted in1973.

o Oberoi began building his first hotel outside India which was calledThe Lanka Oberoi in 1973.

o The Lanka oberoi was opened in 1975.

Future plans of Oberoi hotel

o Leading hospitality chain Oberoi Group is

planning to set up 10 more hotels in the

country and abroad by the end of 2011 andadding 2,300 rooms.

o The group is currently in planning and

development stages on eight properties in

India and six of them would be ready and

operational by end of 2011
