Dangers of obesity • Diabetes (kidney failure, blindness,
limb amputations)• Heart Disease• Stroke • Cancer• Reduces life expectancy by 9 years
What can we do about it?• Eat regularly –three meals a day• Eat food to suit your lifestyle- the
more active you are the more energy you will need.
• If you do not exercise-then you will need less food .
• Drink fruit juice or sugar free soft drinks instead of fizzy mineral
• Be as active as possible- aim for at least 30 minutes everyday
• Eat a healthy, balanced diet, including at least five portions of fruit and vegetables every day
• Cut down on saturated fat and sugar• Try to eat less salt- no more than 6g a day • Drink plenty of water• Don’t skip breakfast.
