Our Father in heaven, through the
powerful intercession of Our Lady of
Prompt Succor, spare us from all harm
during these current times and the
hurricane season.
Please protect us, our family, our
homes and businesses from all disas-
ters, especially those of nature.
Our Lady of Prompt Succor, hasten to
help us. ~ Amen.
FAMILY FUNDAMENTALS
In the month of October, we honor Our Lady through her rosary. I
will be humbly reflecting on the rosary as we continue to cherish
this great devotion in the coming weeks. This week I have selected
an excerpt on praying the rosary as a family from the Pontifical
Council for the Family.
“The wave of secularization that has swept through the life of
our communities in recent decades has brought a deep crisis,
even in the context of the
family, and hence in family
prayer as an expression of
communion and an indispen-
sable source for the mission
the family is called to carry
out in the Church and in soci-
ety.”
“Confronted by this disturb-
ing situation, pastors in re-
cent centuries have not
ceased to recommend the
devout practice of the Rosary,
which Pope Pius XII de-
scribed as "the compendium of the entire Gospel", to implore
the Lord, giver of all good things, through the intercession of
the Blessed Virgin, Queen of the Rosary, for the gifts of faith
and peace in families and among nations.”
-Card. Alfonso Lopez Trujillo
May we ponder this in our hearts just as Our Lady. Let us pray the
rosary as a family as often as possible, letting go of expectations,
always knowing Our Lady will show up for us – in the great and in
the small through her beautiful fiat!

The Catholic Community Foundation

Please take a moment to notice that our parish has several
special events on the calendar during the rest of the month of
October. Our monthly Requiem Mass will be held on the 12th.
Then, St. Patrick’s own Simon Templet will offer a recital on
17th. Those who attend are assured to experience a memorable
afternoon of remarkable organ music. Earlier that same day, all
are welcome to a presentation in our rectory about a new
Catholic college in Maryland which caters to the Latin Mass
faithful. At the end of the month, our 9:15 a.m. Mass
congregation will celebrate the Feast of Christ the King along
with the annual Consecration of Humanity to Christ the King.
Please note the Mass will begin at 9 a.m.
Uniquely this year, the Latin Mass feast of Christ the King,
the Feast of All Saints and the Commemoration of All Souls
form a true “triduum” since these occurs in perfect sequence.
All three days will be observed solemnly here at St. Patrick’s.
Doing so is a unique way to observe the kingship of Christ
over those on Earth, in Heaven and in Purgatory respectively.
For the solemn occasion of All Saints day, our musicians have
been preparing a special setting of the Mass texts. The
polyphonic music setting is composed by Tomás Luis de
Victoria (1548-1611). On that same day, we will also have the
opportunity to welcome back Fr. Albert Jerome Mott, a newly
ordained priest from the Diocese of Tyler. He was no stranger
to us during his time at Notre Dame Seminary. Then, All Souls
Day will be observed with the timeless Gregorian chant
settings of the Requiem Mass. Entering the richness of
liturgical life that our Catholic faith offers is well-worth the
extra effort! I hope to see you there!
Please take a moment this week to review the yearly
financial report. Like the previous two years, I have condensed
our parish financial information for our parishioners. I hope
that my efforts in composing this report can help you to
understand how important your contributions are and the great
efforts that we take to make the best use of those gifts. St.
Patrick’s is blessed with many generous benefactors which
enables us to accomplish a lot of good. Our efforts preserve
the rich heritage of art, architecture, music and faith which we
have inherited. In addition, we are able to take on new ventures
to better catechize our parish children and offer opportunities
for all ages to grow in love for Christ. As always, I welcome
your comments and questions regarding our parish finances.
Feel free to reach out to me by phone, e-mail or in person.
