Diocesan Catholic Ministries Appeal (CMA)
The Annual Diocesan Catholic Ministries Appeal (CMA), formerly known as the Annual Diocesan Ap-peal, is a primary source of funding to help sustain and expand ministries in the
114 parishes, 30 schools, seminary, programs and de-partments of the diocesan church. Our parish goal for this year is $42,680.00. As of October 1st update we are at $27,339.00 or 64% of our goal. We wish to thank everyone who has made a donation to the appeal and encourage others to prayerful-ly consider making a donation to the appeal. Donation envelopes are at the end of the pews or at the entrances to the church. You may also go online at http://www.dow.org/CMA .
his week the Extraordinary General Assembly of the Synod of Bishops on the Family began. On the first day of the Synod, Pope Francis connected the life of the family to the Word of God: “For the family to be able to proceed well, with trust and with hope, it must be nurtured by the Word of God.” To highlight the importance of the Word of God in families, bibles were distributed to every fami-
ly in St. Peter’s Square. But to be able to have an effect on a person or on a family, a bi-ble must be opened and read. The Pope reminded the families in St. Peter’s Square that they received a bible “not to just put it on a shelf, but to keep it on hand, dip into it often, both individually and together, husband and wife, parents and children, perhaps in the evening, especially on Sundays. In this way the family will grow and walk in the light and the strength of God’s Word!” Following the Pope’s suggestion, a family could begin reading the bible together once a week by ei-ther reading the scriptures that were heard at Mass that Sunday or reading the scriptures for the coming Sun-day. The time spent reading the bible does not need to be long, it could be ten or fifteen minutes; long enough to read the scriptures and talk a little about them. The scripture passage does not have to be long either. What is important is taking some time as a fam-ily to read the scriptures and to listen to God speaking through the inspired authors of the Sacred Scriptures. Father Richard Yevchak, IVE
ASSOCIATE PASTOR’S MESSAGE 3
From September 24 – November 2, our community will take part in 40 Days for Life … a groundbreak-ing, coordinated international mobilization. We pray that, with God’s help, this will mark the begin-ning of the end of abortion in our city — and be-yond. Please check at the church entrances to sign up to see which day you may come to pray peace-fully in front of Planned Parenthood in Mankato.

Minister Schedule for October 18-19, 2014
PHÚC ÂM: Mt 22, 1-10 {hoặc 1-14}

NATURAL FAMILY PLANNING - this isn’t your grandmother’s Rhythm Method! Modern methods of Natural Family Planning have effectiveness rates equal to or better than all artificial methods except steriliza-tion. NFP is just as effective as the birth control pill, but has no risks or unwanted side effects. Look into this surprising reliable alternative.
The next course starts at Ss Peter and Paul on Friday October 17th. More details and registration at www.ccli.org For questions, please call Dan and Brenda Voracek at (507) 625-5008.

Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.
