Welcome to Holy Rosary Parish
Dear Friends,
October is an important month in the life
of the Church. It is a month of special
devotion to the Blessed Mother Mary and it
is also Respect Life month. You might want
to combine these two priorities by praying
the Rosary with special intentions for life
issues. In Gaudete et exsultate (84), Pope
Francis shared this timely reflection.
“Our defence of the innocent unborn, for
example, needs to be clear, firm and passionate, for at
stake is the dignity of a human life, which is always
sacred and demands love for each person, regardless of
his or her stage of development. Equally sacred,
however, are the lives of the poor, those already born,
the destitute, the abandoned and the underprivileged,
the vulnerable infirm and elderly exposed to covert
euthanasia, the victims of human trafficking, new forms
of slavery, and every form of rejection.”
Through the intercession of Blessed Mother Mary,
may we grown in our respect of human life in every
aspect.
Christ’s peace,
Fr. Bernie

Queridos amigos,
P. Bernie

Holylands Arts at Holy Rosary
With the hostilities worsening in the Holy
Land and due to lack of Christian pilgrims
because of COVID-19, unemployment rate
increased to almost 80%.
Holylands Arts is one of the few
Christian Organizations that took the
responsibility of helping Christians of the
Holy Land market their hand crafts in the United States.
Many Christian Palestinians have responded by fleeing
the Holy Land. And, it is conceivable that all Christians could
leave. However, the absence of a living Christian community
is very dangerous for the Holy sites such as the Nativity
Church in Bethlehem.
Artwork will be available in the atrium after each Mass on
November 6/7. By purchasing these engraved pieces of art,
you help strengthen the Christian presence in the city of
Bethlehem, the birthplace of Jesus Christ, and the
surrounding areas.
Proceeds go to the Christian families (the artisans) who
have been working hard since ages in this type of tourism
related hand-carvings.

A Stewardship Prayer for October.
My Lord Jesus, As the rains hide the stars, as the autumn
mist hides the hills, as the clouds veil the blue of the
skies, so the dark happenings of the world hide the
shining of your face from me. Yet, if I may hold your
hand in the darkness, it is enough, since I know that, as
the steward of your grace, though I may stumble on this
journey of mine, you will not let me fall. Amen.
(Inspired by a Celtic prayer)
October is Respect for Life Month
During the weekend liturgies on October 30/31, we
will be remembering those from the parish who have
died in the past 12 months.
The names of each person will be read at all the
Masses and a candle will be displayed in their
memory through the month on November.
If you cannot join us in person, please know that you
can hear the names read within the livestreamed
liturgies on Facebook live @HRCatholicChurch or
YouTube.com at Holy Rosary Catholic Church EVV.
We pray with our parish families who have lost loved
ones this year.

Stewardship Food for Thought
Twenty-ninth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Weekend of October 16/17, 2021
In today’s Gospel Jesus teaches his disciples that
whoever wishes to be great among them must be a
servant, just as he came to be a servant. Good stewards
know that their “greatness” is found in God, and is
affirmed by a serving heart, a Spirit-filled life, a humble
walk and a commitment to acting in ways that glorify
God. The “greatness” we feel about ourselves is rooted
in a proper view of God in our lives and a proper view
of our place in creation. It is from here that we derive
our sense of identity and our belief that human life is
particularly valuable. Not to be a servant of the Gospel
and others would be poor stewardship. In what ways do
we serve the Gospel in our daily lives?
