Roadway Projects
• TxDOT reviewing Categorical Exclusion (CE) documents
• Wetland field work and report completed, request for jurisdictional determination sent to USACE
Pearland Parkway
• Completed 100% review of plans and specifications and submitted to TXDOT August 1st
• Advertised for bids • Bid opening scheduled for Thursday, October 11th
ITS Project
• Max Road – Negotiated scope and fee sent to TxDOT for review and
approval
• Fite Road – Staff is reviewing the scope and proposal
TIP Projects Update
• Miller Ranch Road– Open
• O’Day Road – Open
• Old Alvin Road – Expected to open today
TxDOT Off-System Bridge Replacements
TxDOT Off-System Bridge Replacements
• Major lane shift was completed on September 20th
• Asphalt and base have been milled off the old road surface south of the bridge and 500 feet north of bridge
• Excavation and fill began along the east side of the project north of McHard/Brookside
Cullen Parkway – Phase II
Phase I Streetlights– McDonald/Willits to Clear Creek
• Streetlights are operational
Dixie Farm Road
Phase II – Mary’s Creek Bypass to SH35• Punchlist work has been completed
Dixie Farm Road
• Brick pavers have been installed around the railroad crossing arms
• One year maintenance continues in the median
Walnut Reconstruction
• All outstanding issues have been resolved• The contractor has completed all the re-work with
the exception of injecting grout into the Town Ditch channel bottom which scheduled for Oct. 23rd
Orange Street
• Advertised for bidders August 29th and September 5th
• Pre-bid meeting held September 6th
• Bid opening held September 13th
• Preparing for Council award on October 8th
Business Center Drive
• Broadway/Main Street intersection– West bound lanes of FM518 have now been completed– Work on permanent traffic signals on this intersection is
scheduled to begin in the next week to 10 days• Bridge work continuing
– Center portions of the bridges at Town Ditch and Hickory Slough are now complete
• Drainage– Drainage laterals have been installed in the area between
FM518 and Orange
SH35 – BW8 to FM518
• Received TxDOT comments on plan set and received information regarding required submittals for permitting
• Staff are coordinating with BNSF to perform all of the work at this crossing at one point in time
Quiet Zone Railroad Crossing
Drainage Projects
Diversion Ditch• Haddock Construction awarded slope paving through
BDD4 for section between CR 143 & Station 112+50• Hauling contract for segment between Bailey Rd (CR101)
and CR100 was awarded to David Wight Construction• BDD4 has begun clearing/grubbing operations on the
segment between Bailey Rd (CR101) and CR100
Cowart Creek Diversion
Pump Station• Second vertical lift of wet well poured and sank to final
grade using caisson method. • Seal slab on bottom slab of wet well poured• Third and final lift of wet well poured• Pond pumping started todayRe-grading of Roadside Ditches• Consultant continued working to resolve utility conflicts
on Wayne Dr. and depth of cover issues on Holland. • City is assisting the engineer in obtaining utility
information from AT&T

• 30% plans being reviewed by City staff
Westchester Sidewalk and Drainage
• Staff is reviewing 90% PER• Geotech field work completed• Reviewing options for implementing a regional
plan
Cullen Regional Detention

• 60% plan review competed• 90% plans due the end of this week• Reviewing construction estimate

• Council approved Construction and Construction Materials Testing contracts
• Staff executed (deductive) Change Order No. 1• Conducted the Pre-Construction meeting for
Detention Pond and issued Notice to Proceed• Staff reviewing 60% plans for the sports complex
Hickory Slough Detention at Max Road & Max Road Sports Complex, Phase I
• Reviewed plan revisions with consultant• Parks Department received notification of possible
grant funds becoming available
Dolores Fenwick Nature Center Phase II
• Southgate concrete trail completed• 70% decomposed granite trail completed
South Gate & Cypress Village Parks
• Contract negotiations completed• On Council Agenda for review & approval
Shadow Creek Ranch Park
Utility Projects
City of Houston Interconnect
Alice Street Water Plant• Start-up of the Turbine System was completed on
September 19th
• Producing 20KW of power at current average flows of 2.8MGD
• Continuing with excavating disk filter area and 8-inch drain area
• Continue breaking/removing concrete pavement for scum pump stations
Longwood WWTP Rehabilitation
• Bar screen and transpactor installed, tested and accepted
• Progress meeting held September 20th
• Contractor on schedule with equipment submittals and major equipment buy out
Barry Rose WWTP Rehabilitation
• Hosted Open House Meeting at Jamison Middle School on September 12th
• Tree evaluation report completed on selected segments
• Determined Mary’s Creek crossing will not require a USACE permit
• Approved alternative to Woody Road alignment behind Jamison Middle School
• 15 of 16 parcels acquired or closing
Hatfield Basin Trunk Sewer
• Contractor has completed the wet well structure. Influent manhole has been set and the influent line has been partially installed. Electrical rough-in has been completed and riser pipes have been installed
Twin Creek Regional Lift Station
Far Northwest Wastewater Treatment Plant Improvements
• Staff reviewed 60% plans and provided comments• Engineer to review requested revisions
Old Alvin 20” Waterline
• Continued working with the Acquisition Manager to acquire ROE and/or easements
• 10 of 13 parcels acquired or closing• Received 100% plans and specifications along
with responses to the 90% review
BellaVita Waterline Interconnect
• Harris County approved the permit• Advertised for bidders on August 29th &
September 5th
• Mandatory pre-bid held September 6th • Bid opening held September 13th
SH35 South Water Line
• Substantial completion punchlist completed• Final walk through September 13th
• Survey work completed and waiting for proposed alignment
• Freese and Nichols determining if geotechnical testing can work around areas we do not have a ROE
• Engineer reviewing hydraulic analysis again to determine if roadway can be lower than proposed 3 ft. elevation previously reported
