Sister Edna J. Rascoe
Sister Edna J. Rascoe (85 years of age) became a member of the New First Baptist Church (Taylorsville) family on June 19, 1960 (55 years ago). She was married to the late Trustee David H. Rascoe, Sr. for 63 years. Sister Rascoe is the loving mother of six children: one son and five daughters
and a devoted grandmother of 12 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
Sister Rascoe was employed with General Electric Company and retired with over 15 years of service. She loves people and spends her time visiting nursing homes, visiting the sick, and attending sport activities with her grandchildren. During her spare time, she enjoys reading and watching television.
During her years at New First Baptist, she has been very active in church ministry. For over 50 years, Sister Rascoe has been a faithful member of the Concert Choir singing during the 7 AM and 11:15 AM services and during church engagements. Sister Rascoe is one of two original members left in the Choir. On August 28, 2014, she was honored and recognized for her many years of dedicated and faithful service to the Music Ministry of New First Baptist. Sister Rascoe is also a former member of the Trusteette Ministry and the former Floral Club. She regularly attends the Ladies #1 Sunday School Class, Vacation Bible School, and Adult Bible Study.
Sister Rascoe’s favorite scripture is Psalm 121, “I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. My help cometh from the Lord, which made the heaven and earth . . .” and favorite Christian song, “Great is Thy Faithfulness”.
What do she love about New First Baptist Church (Taylorsville): Sister Rascoe loves the Worship, Friendship, and Fellowship. What a blessing to have Sister Edna Rascoe, with her quiet and loving spirit as part of our church family. We thank, Sister Rascoe, for her many years of service to New First Baptist Taylorsville through her singing of the Lord’s goodness and mercy.
Congratulations to our “Senior in the Spotlight,” Sister Edna Rascoe. May the Lord’s blessing continue to shine upon her.

“MONTHLY HEALTH TIP” OCTOBER 2015
Mistakes are sometimes made by doctors, the pharmacist, and ourselves. Sadly medication-related problems continue to frequently occur.
The good news is that many of these problems can be prevented through asking your doctor questions when he/she prescribes a prescription for you and with a medication safety screening at the in store pharmacy level.
“Prescription Safety Checks . . .
Can I take this medicine before, with
or after food?
Can I drink grapefruit juice?
What are the side effects? What is
normal and what is not?
Are there any drug interactions?
Can you tell what the pill, liquid or
inhaler will look like and how often I am
to take the medication?
How should I store my medication? BE SURE TO WRITE all the information down or have a family member do it for you.
When you receive your prescription from the pharmacy, ask the Pharmacist to
explain it to you again; and if this is not what your Doctor said, don't be afraid to ask questions BEFORE you take medication.
MOST IMPORTANTLY be sure to look at the your prescription before leaving the pharmacy.
Keep a list of all your medications, any marking on the pill, bottle, or inhaler; and if you can take a picture of them, that’s even better and put it in a safe place.
When you have to get a refill, take the list with you and check for any mistakes.
Sometime the color of the pills, liquid, or inhaler will change due to the manufacturer. You have the right to question the pharmacist.
Take your Medicines as prescribed
but be safe!
